Products and services New guide from Adaptaflex

Adaptaflex has introduced a new guide entitled The Specification of Flexible Electrical Conduit Systems. This will assist in understanding which conduit systems should be used in particular electrical installations. The guide looks at the many demands that are put on

Flex Connectors centre stage at the BBC

The new BBC drama village in Cardiff Bay, which is home to prime-time dramas such as Casualty and Dr Who, will benefit from Flex Connectors’ flex7 lighting connection and control system. Whitehead Building Services of Cardiff chose the flex7

System because of the simplicity and versatility of the product range. The ‘plug and play’ nature of the system, combined with products and packaged on a room-by- room basis, ensured minimal installation time on the 15,800 sq m site. Earlier this year, lighting consultant Arup worked in

partnership with the BBC to create a guide, co-funded by the Carbon Trust, on low energy lighting for television. It is part of the BBC campaign – The Difference – which aims to reduce energy consumption by 20 per cent by 2013. Flex7 energy saving lighting controls were therefore an appropriate choice. A variety of different requirements across the site called

for the system to include occupancy and absence control, manual dimming and auto daylight dimming controls – all standard products from the flex7 range.

Philips has partnered with Northumberland County Council to provide the diverse and vibrant Regent Street in Blyth with a low-maintenance lighting solution that produces high quality white light. As local authorities face increased pressure to meet

cost saving targets, they are looking at innovative solutions to help address these challenges. As a leader in LED lighting, Philips was able to provide Regent’s Street with a solution that improved light quality at night, while also reducing maintenance costs and time. Philips’ SpeedStar luminaire, incorporating LEDGINE Greenline, was the perfect fit for this project, combining an innovative carbon neutral design with a long lifetime of 60,000 hours and savings of up to £10,000 through reduced maintenance alone. SpeedStar also incorporates the easy-to-upgrade LEDGINE, which provides a future-proof solution that can also be connected to lighting regulation systems for further savings.

flexible conduit systems. These include considerations such as environmental protection, mechanical protection, fire resistance, vibration resistance and various types of liquid resistance. There is a flexible conduit system available to meet any

of these essential requirements in application areas from traditional contracting in the domestic and commercial sectors, through to specialist areas such as security installations, the rail industry, machine tools, marine, offshore, data cabling and many other sectors. Many suppliers produce similar-looking products but

with vastly different properties and quality standards. The guide looks at these and also considers the implications of the Wiring Regulations, International Standard BS EN 61386, conduit approval processes and the selection of complementary fittings.
