of SummitSkills, said: ‘There has been so much talk recently about Green Deal that, not surprisingly, many employers tell us they are unsure of where to start to prepare their people and their organisations to support and take advantage of the initiative. These events will guide visitors through the mass of information towards exactly what potential installers of environmental technologies need to know.’ ■ For dates, locations and to register, visit www. assetskills.org/GreenSkills/ GreenDealConnections. aspx

student learning. The assessments and NVQ visits after the training course will then be delivered nationwide via an assigned JTL assessor. Caroline Turner, director of operations for JTL, said: ‘We are delighted to have entered into this arrangement with Trade Skills 4U, which we envisage can only bring

benefi ts to the apprentices and their employers. ‘Both organisations place strong emphasis on the quality of provision and support, and we very much look forward to working together to creating innovative ways of meeting our employer partners’ requirements for training and assessment long into the future.’

■ The Joint Industry Board (JIB) has issued annual fi gures for the resolution of disputes and grievances within the industry. During 2010, the JIB received 97 case referrals. Of these, 33 were withdrawn for various reasons. Of the remaining 64 cases, 59 were settled by the JIB’s mediation team, resulting in a settlement rate of more than 90 per cent. The remaining fi ve went to a dispute committee hearing, which is the industry’s equivalent of an Employment Tribunal but is operated by the JIB.
