Isle of Man up to speed Warlingham FC scores with ECA
The ECA’s Isle of Man branch members held their autumn meeting on 22 September. The meeting was attended by 51 people, mostly ECA members but also representatives from the Isle of Man government and the electricity board. There was a presentation by Will Lloyd of the ECA Technical team, explaining the changes to the 17th Edition of the Wiring Regulations BS7671 with the introduction of Amendment 1. The ECA Isle of Man branch chairman Peter Druggan commented: ‘The presentation was very welcome, comprehensive and well received. It’s not easy to keep abreast of all the changes in the industry but by events such as this, and the regular circulars and advice from the ECA, we can ensure that the members’ technical knowledge is up to date.’
As part of the ECA’s support for grassroots sports, Warlingham FC has received sponsorship via the ECA’s Greater London region, providing new kit for its football teams. Warlingham FC, based in Surrey, is a community club that provides football for local people from age four through to veterans The money donated by the ECA has provided match balls and bibs for the under-12s, under-13s and under-16s sides. The under-15s side has also been
able to get a new kit, while the ECA has also sponsored warm up t-shirts and a new kit for the adults reserve team, as well as a new kit for the adults third team.
Paul Antino, managing director of ECA member NRT Electrical and chairman of Warlingham Colts FC said: ‘Sponsorship and donations are very diffi cult to obtain for community sports, and this money from the ECA has been a godsend to our club. We are very grateful, and hopefully many more people are now aware of the ECA’s role of setting standards within the electrical contracting industry.’

Casuals are serious winners

Northampton Casuals were thrilled to learn that they had been awarded £1,000 to spend on equipment for their mini and junior section. The mini and junior section of the Casuals is growing all the time and currently has around 170 registered players ranging in ages from six to 16 years old.
The ECA has provided new rugby balls and 12 new tackle shields in two sizes to accommodate the different age groups.
