FIELD DAY

August 6th @ Victoria Park
6th August saw Hackney’s Victoria Park host the fifth anniversary of Field Day. Within a mile radius of the park, and at what seemed like almost every East London tube station, evidence of the event was clear with swarms of East London trendy twenty-somethings all eagerly clasping their Red Stripes en route to London’s indie and electro festival of the summer. The good vibes were flowing aplenty throughout this one day event with rapidly up-and-coming artists such as Four Tet, Alex Holden and Jamie XX providing the soundtrack.
James Blake, who has been bigged up on Radio 1 hugely in the past few months, packed out the arena during his live set with his renowned synthy and mellow future-dubstep beats. Four Tet a.k.a. Kieran Hebden and Alex Holden played a back to back set on the main stage; Hebden stated pre-show that he only ever plays b2b sets with two DJs, one of them being top house artist Alex Holden, and from the banging set they played we can see he chooses his collaborators well! All in all a good day for East London; there couldn’t have been a better venue!
