At Cheetah Learning, we found that a mentor program is an effective way to groom new employees and provides them with an easy transition into the company. It prevents “rookie mistakes” and grooms permanent, successful assets to our company.
One of the primary goals of any company is to get every employee acclimated to the company culture and methodology as quickly as possible. At Cheetah Learning, we refer to it as getting our new employees up to “Cheetah Speed!” To accomplish this, it is important that
ask “stupid questions.” Now, we all know that there are no stupid questions! In the practical world most of us live in, however, there remains a nervous resistance to ask questions to our hearts content when faced with a new situation. If you do build up the nerve to ask a question, it is much easier to approach a peer than your direct supervisor. Our goal from day one of a Cheetah’s employment is to get the early career operations of Cheetah Learning and to begin grooming them to help run the business as an important stakeholder in the next generation of the company. In order to best cultivate the next generation, the young new hires are provided with a senior mentor from the Cheetah team
In the Cheetah mentor program, each new employee gets individual attention to make sure he can grow to his maximum potential within the company. A mentor is carefully selected based on her level and department within the company, her ability to connect as a personable leader to the new employee (as well as the and willing commitment to the future of the company. Once paired with a new employee, the mentor uses her own unique style and approach in order to cultivate the relationship with the new employee and guide his growth and development at a pace that will bring out the best in him. Through such a program, mistakes are minimized and growth is carefully driven, allowing every new employee to quickly that is critical to his future contributions and involvement at Cheetah.
