The word “emerge” conjures a feeling of gradual transition. Personally, what has emerged in my life recently has come about in the form of  of life—each day it comes and goes at a pace we do not get to determine. When something emerges with urgency, it is clear that the better you are at project management, the more able you can manage the situation. Life throws curveballs, so we should practice how to see them coming and know when to swing or duck.

This past year has had more than a few natural disasters, situations of political and economic unrest, and health concerns throughout the world. How do you react when things go awry in nature or the human race? Do you exhibit a balanced, thoughtful approach that includes hope and optimism? Or do you hide from reality? My guess is that most of us do a mix of both.  depends how close to home the crisis is. But as the planet seems to get smaller, an earthquake on the other side of the world feels much closer to our own doorstep. times? I dare say they are the people with project management training! They tend to use project management in all aspects of life.

I have begun applying a compassionate project management lifestyle approach to life. I am learning to recognize stakeholders, perform risk analysis, prioritize, set a timeframe, and be open to all ideas. I believe that the more we are attuned to this way of approaching life, the more successful we will be. If we can apply “preventative project management” to more areas in life, we will be able to better handle obstacles and pitfalls as they arrive.

What area of your life could use a little preventative project management? Try to identify the challenges pressing down on you and turn them into opportunities to learn and grow. I plan to be more proactive in creating a sustainable dwelling and lifestyle. My days of negatively reacting to gas prices have passed as I am turning this complaint into a commitment and a goal! What can you do to improve your outlook on life and ultimately improve your life?

Remember, projects are part of our lives. So, in a sense, everyone is a project manager. What differentiates the really successful people from the ones not so successful is how well they manage those projects. Cheetah inspires people to live their dreams by making it fast, easy, and fun to master the task of project management.
