Flotex® works out at Village Hotels
For any hotel, the quality of the surroundings is paramount to ensure guests have a comfortable and pleasant stay, which is why the Village Hotel, Ashton Moss, Manchester looked to Forbo Flooring Systems to satisfy its flooring brief. Flotex Sottsass Wool was specified for the hotel’s state-of-the-art gymnasium area, due to the product’s hard wearing, hygienic and easy to maintain properties.
This particular Village Hotel boasts impressive leisure facilities for those staying for business or visiting the City, which include a state-of- the-art club with the latest technology equipment, a full-length 25m swimming pool, whirlpool spa and sauna. “The appearance of our service areas are
of paramount importance to ensure they look and perform excellently for our guests. We therefore needed a flooring design that reflects the friendly and relaxed environment associated with Village Hotels,” explains Emma Waite, Senior Team Leader at the Village Hotel.

Selecting the right flooring in key areas such as gyms is an important decision and with many considerations. Forbo’s Flotex, which is fitted in all Village gyms, provided the ideal solution because of the product’s performance and extensive design options that fitted in with the overall look of the hotels. The unique composition of Flotex, which
has over 70 million electrostatically flocked fibres per square metre, offers the hard wearing characteristics of a resilient floor, yet also the warmth, comfort and acoustic properties of carpet. Being completely waterproof, Flotex is also the only truly washable textile floor covering. The structure of Flotex means that with standard cleaning methods, body sweat, machine oils and general soiling can be effectively removed to leave a fresh smelling and hygienic floor. Flotex features Sanitized®, an effective antimicrobial treatment anchored into the substrate which continually migrates to the flock, maintaining a consistent layer over the product even after multiple cleaning cycles. Sanitized® prevents the growth of bacteria including MRSA and
E.coli, moulds and stale odour development which makes it the ideal flooring solution for gyms and leisure spaces. Flotex Sottsass wool, part of the exclusive
Sottsass collection, was specified throughout the gym area in a sophisticated grey colourway tying into the hotel’s corporate

branding. Flotex wool plays on the texture of the individual strands of natural fibres, giving a sense of depth and warmth to the floor. Jonathan Dowling, Director at Gravity
Flooring based in Sunbury-on-Thames, comments: “The gymnasium at the hotel is a large area and due to time constraints it was essential to have a quality product that was easy to install. Forbo’s Flotex met this requirement as it was extremely straightforward to fit, even when negotiating the installation around the new gym equipment.”
