y the close of the event four days later, 16,275 visitors from a total of 80 countries from all over the world had walked through the halls of the Bilbao Exhibition Centre (BEC).


José Miguel Corres, the CEO of BEC, describes the visitor


numbers as “satisfactory, which is just how this year’s participants have assessed the event to us”. With exhibitor numbers having declined from a 2009 show ravished by economic conditions, even a seven percent increase in visitors could reasonably be considered a triumph against the odds and certainly a testament to the huge level of energy injected by BEC. The majority of visitors came from France, Portugal, Italy,


Germany and the UK – all of them leading countries in the EU. There were also trade specialists from Poland, Russia, Turkey, Cyprus, Morocco, Algeria, Colombia, Argentina, Mexico, Brazil, Costa Rica and Saudi Arabia, among other countries, many of who came as part of a programme for purchasers. In all, the number of foreign visitors was up by 10%. There were also over 8,000


Spanish visitors from outside the Basque Country. They came from all over Spain, though the largest numbers were from Catalonia, Madrid, Valencia, Cantabria, Galicia and Andalusia.


March in a new format, featuring almost 600 international exhibitors and a highly participative programme of activities. Exhibitors at the event stressed the high standard of visitors,


and therefore of the business contacts made during the week. Records show that most of those who attended the fair were decision makers, heads of purchasing and company managers. The sectors in which they showed most interest were hand tools, power tools, locksmithery and industrial supplies, with over 100 new product presentations being carried out during the show in the various sectors. The side events organised at the fair combined various formats,


such as presentations, round tables, case studies and talks, and between them drew 732 trade specialists. The exhibition area given over to live demonstrations by exhibitors of innovations and the use of products was also a great success, and helped firms contact trade specialists and, especially, end users. This 19th


edition of Ferroforma-Bricoforma was opened by Bernabé Unda, the Basque government minister for industry, innovation, trade and tourism. The overall balance of the event was positive, BEC reckoned, and confirmed the suitability of the new format and the major efforts made by the organisers to ensure its profitability and assure a high international profile.


MosBuild 2011 confirms its status


MosBuild 2011, the largest and best-known construction sector exhibition in Russia, took place on 5th


- 8th T 42 April, occupying two of Moscow’s largest exhibition venues, Crocus Expo and Expocentre.


his year, MosBuild outgrew the show forecasts and featured 18% more exhibitors compared to last year’s event. 2,472 companies from 49 countries demonstrated their latest products, technologies and services to 150,000 trade visitors who attended during the four days of the exhibition. The increasing global participation was also reflected by sixteen National Group stands, including from Belgium, Canada, China, Croatia, Denmark, Germany, Finland, Lithuania, Serbia, Italy and


many others. International event manager, Chris Christofi, comments: “As the leading trade exhibition, MosBuild gives an accurate indication


of the potential and the development of Russia’s building and interiors market. We are absolutely delighted to welcome three new national groups from Croatia, Denmark and Lithuania this year. This really confirms that Russia is becoming a key territory for thousands of international industry players”. Scell-It launched its new Russian subsidiary at Mosbuild. “Scell-it Russia is the last ‘newborn’ in the Scell-it family, after Scell-it


UK, Scell-it Poland, Scell-it Scandinavia and Scell-it Baltics,” said Anna Olexova. “We had a very good show at MosBuild and had a lot of visitors to our stand all interested in our new blind rivet battery tool.” For 2012 the organisers have announced that MosBuild will be held in the Expocentre only, but spread over a two week period. Week one will take place from 2nd


– 5th April and week two from 10th – 13th April 2012. Week one will feature a series of interior and decor products events, each promoted within their niche sectors. They include


bathrooms, ceramics, technoceramica, doors and locks, flooring, wall decor, decotex, and paints and coatings. Week two will focus on the building sector and will feature events covering building materials and equipment, hardware and tools, windows, plumbing and pipes, lighting and electrics, architectural stone and interior finishes. Commenting on plans for MosBuild in 2012, event director Ruzanna Sarkisova said: “The decision to alter our venue arrangements


next year provides us with yet another opportunity to drive MosBuild forward. We have structured the two-week event to enable visitors to plan an efficient trip so that they can spend more time conducting business and less time travelling between two venues. MosBuild is a first-class marketplace for business and our commitment is to make it better and better – every year”.
