Asian Pioneer Inflight is a successful supply chain management provider of onboard service products with customers in more than 20 countries, specialised in sourcing, developing and importing products for on-board business. The Spanish-Chinese joint venture prides itself


on having its own Chinese sourcing offices, guaranteeing to find the best products within a reasonable timescale, as well as carrying out appropriate quality checks before shipment. Additionally, the company owns two factories


in China producing textiles (blankets, amenity kits, bags) and headphones. Working with its own factories can guarantee on-time delivery and the best price ratio. Its team has more than 20-years experience in


the airline market and its members are constantly investigating new onboard products that can generate additional revenue, improve passenger comfort and quality of services and save money. Onboard Hospitality talks to Asian Pioneer’s


CEO Federico Heitz, who tells us more about the company’s ethos:


OBH: What is your mission as a company? Federico Heitz (FH): Asian Pioneer Inflight’s


OBH: Explain what services your company offers FH: Asian Pioneer Inflight currently provides the following services to its customers: • Supply chain management in China • Product design: if the customers do not have a certain product in mind, our design team can sketch new items


• Negotiation with factories: identifying the factories capable of offering the required service


• Factory audits: our auditors visit the factory to see if it has the capability to deliver the requested quality, both prior and during the production of the items


• Sourcing and purchasing • Quality and production control: once the items have been produced, out quality control team will verify that the products are aligned with the approved sample by the customer


• Logistics: we take care of all the arrangements to ensure the products leave China safely and reach the requested destination on time


• On board consulting services: helping airline companies on the design and customisation of their onboard services


OBH: How do you select your suppliers? FH: Asian Pioneer has long-term relationships with most of its suppliers. They are always selected according to their competitiveness, and after passing strict factory audits covering product


quality, production capacity and corporate social responsibility issues. Since January 2008, Asian Pioneer has been


a member of The Global Compact - a group of companies committed to align their operations and strategies with ten universally agreed principles covering human rights, labour, environment and uncorrupting policies.


OBH: How do you ensure quality control? FH: Quality control in ensured in two phases: • Factory Audits: our own inflight auditors visit the factory personally to access its capability to deliver


• Quality and production control: once the items have been produced, the quality control team will verify that the products are aligned with the approved sample by the customer. Most of the quality controls (QC) are carried out
