The Mercurys This year’s Mercurys competition attracted some 25 entries from as far afield as New Zealand, Thailand and Canada. Kevin Cox, chairman of the Mercurys award committee said: “During the validation I was lucky enough to get an early look at the entries this year and it never fails to amaze me how much innovation there is within our industry. It just goes to show that even in difficult times we are still creating new ways to improve the passenger experience and this is truly commendable. It is true to say that the Mercurys, the most prestigious awards within the travel catering industry, will once again produce winners of high merit.” The awards were judged in January and the
judges received 20 minute presentations on each of the entries.
This year’s judging panel was: Matt Crane - Monty’s Bakehouse, UK Werner Kimmeringer – Etihad Tracey Barnett – BMI Marc Maisonneuve – Canonica Catering, France Rob Taylor – Virgin Trains Adam Bauer – Airmeals, USA Ed Roberts – Diversey Kevin Cox (chairman) – Brinkers Cakes and Desserts, Holland.
Each and every entry is carefully marked,
with innovation being of prime importance. This is with the exception of the F&B Category for which marks are given for the customer satisfaction element. This year the award ceremony itself will
take place within the tradeshow in Nice on 17 February 2011 and will be available for all to see. All you have to do is register to attend the ITCA
tradeshow and networking forum and you will be able to join in the excitement displayed by the winning companies. The Mercurys are always a climactic finish to the three days of the ITCA event.
