ITCA President
I want to take this opportunity to wish you all a very Happy New Year. Personally, I am thrilled 2010 is over.

Like most businesses associated with the travel catering industry, consultants are not immune to the world’s ups and downs. In fact, we are usually the first ones to go. Thankfully for me I have been in this industry a long time and have many good friends, colleagues and contacts. 2010 was also the year I took over as President of ITCA and I would like to
Opportunities in Nice
It is important that everyone, especially the senior management who may have to approve travel permits for their staff, realises just what a magnificent opportunity the ITCA Trade Show and Networking Forum is for learning about new products and services, saving money and meeting our peers. I recently sent this letter to all of ITCA’s operator members:
Dear Colleague, Please read this letter – it is important and could ultimately improve your service and save you money. I am writing to you in my capacity as President
of ITCA , The International Travel Catering Association. We are an Association of some 1000 corporate members which, almost certainly, includes yourselves. ITCA holds its ‘Trade Show and Networking Forum’ each year in February or March in Nice, France where next year some 150 – 200 of the most important companies in our industry, are coming from all over the world including China, USA, Australia and Thailand to exhibit their products and services. Over the three days of the event, some 2,000 industry professionals from Airlines, Rail and Shipping Operators, global and independent caterers and suppliers attend.

This Tradeshow is very important to the in-flight and onboard travel catering industry as it showcases an enormous number of new products and services available to travel operators, whether it be food, beverages, onboard service items such as china, glass or comfort items, ovens, trolleys, wine or even IFE (entertainment systems). This knowledge and the innovations brought by the suppliers is vital to your teams as it allows them to have all the information needed to make the right choices when tendering for an item or service. You can also witness the Mercury Awards ceremony - the leading industry awards for product, service and training innovation. The networking opportunities are vital also. Getting to know and to be able to discuss items of mutual interest with colleagues within the industry but from different companies is one of the most important and valuable tools any of your management teams can bring to your company. It means that they are interested in their job and it allows them to become fully aware of all the many opportunities that exist in order to improve both your service and product, to allow you to know the choices available to you, but above all, to save you money. It is impossible for your catering, product or purchasing teams to make the right decisions if they do not have all the information. I realise times are tough, this is true for all of us.
I am asking for your help if we are to survive also. It is vital that you send your decision makers to
attend the ‘Tradeshow and Networking Forum’ in Nice. The benefits far outweigh the relatively small costs – in fact Operators attend free of charge and receive complimentary refreshments and lunch within the hall. We are continually making changes to the Association in order that we benefit our members in as many ways as possible. If you need any further information regarding what we do or how we could help you then please do not hesitate to contact me. I look forward to welcoming you and your teams to Nice on February 15-17 2011.
Yours sincerely
Stephen White ITCA President International Travel Catering Association Maple Suite Guardian House, Borough Road Godalming, GU7 2AE. UK

I hope that the Nice ‘Tradeshow and Networking Forum’ and the changes we will be making in 2011 will make the start of the new decade one to remember for us all. Passenger numbers are rising, profits
are returning and fingers crossed that we can now look forward to a few years of stability. I look forward to welcoming you to Nice in February.
