Amels launches Oberon
Amels launches Oberon the latest in fast yacht support vessels.
Dutch-based Amels has launched Sea Axe 5009 vessel Oberon, which it says points toward an exciting future for fast yacht support vessels. Oberon is a 50m vessel purpose-built to provide round- the-clock service and support for a superyacht. Oberon is capable of travelling at high speeds in almost any sea state due to the patented design of her axe bow. Amels has taken the proven axe bow concept and
applied it to a different market, to meet the demands for reliable support vessels among large-yacht owners. With a top speed of 28kts, this is the first vessel in the fast yacht support market to make use of the axe bow, and is in active service around the Mediterranean. Te 50m Oberon is equipped with a 30m open deck with a total working area of 230m2
and 250tonnes of
deck-cargo capacity. Te deck crane has a maximum liſting capacity of 14tonnes when extended to 10m. Capable of crossing the Atlantic at a cruising speed of 18kts, the Sea Axe design can be configured according to the client’s needs. For example, the standard configura- tion provides accommodation for a maximum 12 crew and staff, although it is possible to provide accommoda- tion for additional staff with a customised layout. SBI
