BA (Hons) History
Length of Programme: 3 Years Full Time
Course Information
Our History students study a dynamic
and challenging subject, exploring
diverse aspects of past culture and
gaining a rich perspective on current
issues. Building gradually over the course
of their degree, students develop their
knowledge of British, European and
international history. In addition, they are
introduced to all of the essential

A History degree is a great point of entry
into the world of work. Many of our
students choose to continue their
passion for the past by becoming
teachers themselves. Some students
choose to develop their interests by
working in museums, galleries or other
heritage venues. Others apply the skills
learned on the degree to the world of
media and public service. Courses on
‘History and the National Curriculum’ and
‘History and Heritage’ help students
prepare thoroughly for their next step in
life. History here is, therefore, a good
place to start a new career path. It is also
a place where you will feel part of a
scholarly community in which ideas,
cultures, peoples and places come to life
through lively enquiry, discussion and
debate. Our History team is composed of
a range of experienced scholars who
write research, present papers at
academic conferences and play a full
part in the international scholarly
community.
