The whole of site covers an area of 55 acres and currently provides approximately 71,000m2 of potential industrial / business accommodation. This means that the site is capable of delivering significant investment, floor space and job creation outputs.


There is demand in the local area for high quality office space and a number of businesses have expressed an interest in re-locating to site.


As part of the Council’s plans for the property, work has already commenced on the existing office block, which will provide approximately 2,600 m2 of high quality office accommodation. The first phase of the refurbished office accommodation will be completed and ready for occupation by the autumn 2020.


of acquiring the property with a view to eventually accommodating a number of businesses within both modernised office suites and within the existing manufacturing production areas.


The Council has already agreed the sale of a large section of the manufacturing unit to Sevenoaks Modular, a local, specialist timber frame and modular construction company, who are currently operating from the site and plan to invest around £6.5m with the projected creation of around 200 jobs.


Furthermore, it is considered that the site could provide accommodation for up to an additional 500 jobs, with interest already being expressed by a number of locally based companies.


As well as providing high quality business space, the acquisition of the Crown building also provides the Council with an opportunity to help address a recognised shortfall of large-scale manufacturing space in Wales.


The Council’s intent remains to breathe new life into an iconic building by creating a commercial hub that not only assists in securing the future of local businesses but also fosters opportunities for additional growth and job creation within the Neath Port Talbot area.
