TRAVELLERS EVICTED SAME DAY AS INSTRUCTED O

n the 9th of February 2018 we were unfortunate to have over 7 caravans appear on our brownfield development site which was gated and secured.

The travellers had illegally gained entry by cutting our padlocked chain and affixing their own securing themselves inside as well as affixing LASPO squatter notices to the outside claiming squatter's rights. At this point we didn’t know what to do, we needed the travellers removing from site as soon as possible for development to continue and waiting 2-3 weeks for a court order and enforcement just wasn’t a viable option, we required a service that was fast and efficient.

I then remembered seeing an advert in a property magazine I subscribe to. I quickly went and found this magazine and gave the company a call, that company was Collect My Debt - CMD High Court Enforcement.

Quickly after calling the phone was answered by a member of staff named Tom Horler, Tom was extremely helpful and informed me that they could certainly help with this situation, he explained to me the process, costs and charges involved and how quickly they could get an agent to site.

They had an agent who was very local to the site and was part of their F.A.S.T (Focussed Area Support Teams) these teams are strategically based nationwide to deal with these very issues, their agent was able to attend site within the hour to serve notice and commence the immediate eviction on the travellers.

After the agent managed to gain entry to the site he was met with hostility and refusal to leave by the travellers. Luckily this was all in a day's work for the agent and was not intimidated by their presence. Once the notice was served the travellers refused to leave site, after much negotiation and with warnings of being removed by force, tow trucks and a Hi-ab lifter were sent to remove the vehicles which were used as obstacles by the travellers.

A further 3 agents were called for attendance to assist with the eviction. With further agents, tow trucks on site ready to remove by force the police were called and attended to prevent any breach of the peace, once the police had attended the travellers knew CMD High Court Enforcement meant business, they soon agreed to leave and requested an hour to gather their things and go, this was

agreed, the agents and tow trucks remained on site as a presence to ensure the travellers left.

Once the travellers had packed up they one by one left site and the land was then clear again, apart from a small amount of rubbish that had been dumped and burned by the travellers the land remained relatively untouched, I am confident this would not have been the same story had they not been removed that very same day.

CMD on our request then ensured the site was re-secured by placing using a high security lock and chain to secure the gate, a 5 tonne concrete block was then placed in front of the gate to prevent any vehicle access and for the company's peace of mind they also contacted their local mobile welding contractor to come out and weld the gates shut.

This ensured the site was secured to its highest level to prevent any further illegal occupation.

I cannot thank CMD enough for their efforts and the speed in which they removed the illegal encampment.
