GREEN FOR GO ON THE SOUTH HUMBER BANK T
he South Humber Industrial Investment Programme (SHIIP) moves a step closer
to delivery in North East Lincolnshire as planning applications for both the South Humber Bank Link Road and Cress Marsh Mitigation Site have now been submitted.
SHIIP will see a number of key projects delivered over a 5-10 year period. The programme will create 90 hectares of additional employment land, increase business rates, create 4000 new jobs and generate £200m within the local economy over the next 25 years. Three key projects which form part of SHIIP include: • Stallingborough Employment Zone Located off the Stallingborough Interchange on Kiln Lane, the proposed 64 hectare site will potentially support up to 3,959 jobs boosting both employment and the local economy. This part of the programme is supported by the Humber Local Enterprise Partnership.
• South Humber Bank Link Road A proposed strategic highway linking the ports of Grimsby and Immingham via Moody Lane, Grimsby and Hobson Way, Stallingborough. This road would facilitate development of allocated employment sites on the South Humber
Bank and has the potential to support up to 922 jobs. This part of the programme is supported by the Greater Lincolnshire Local Enterprise Partnership.
• Strategic Ecological Mitigation This project protects the environment whilst encouraging economic growth on the South Humber Bank. The first of four potential sites is being progressed off South Marsh Road, Stallingborough and will be named Cress Marsh specifically providing lagoons and ponds for protected bird species from the Humber Estuary. This part of the programme is supported by the European Regional Development Fund and the Greater Lincolnshire Local Enterprise Partnership. Councillor Peter

regeneration at North East
Lincolnshire Council, said: “This is a
THE GREAT EAST MIDLANDS
n Investment terms it is said Nottinghamshire, Derbyshire & Leicestershire are at the heart of the great East Midlands and the historic importance of Rutand & Northamptonshire make it great, but significantly it’s Lincolnshire that puts the “East” in the great East Midlands.
I
Historically the Region corresponds to the Five Burghs of the Danelaw and created as an english brand when the northern border was extended to the Humber river embracing the whole of Lincolnshire in 920AD. Since this date investment in the East Midlands has been the crucial lifeblood of economic growth. In recent years much of the investment in the county has been indigenous but in 2018 the pipeline of inward investment is looking very promising indeed, never since Lincoln Cathedral was constructed (1123-1148) has there been such an expansion of infrastructure and development sites with the principal towns beyond Lincoln - Louth, Gainsborough, Boston, Sleaford, Bourne & Grantham all enjoying potential interest from Invest East Midland end users.
In addition to attracting UK national construction operators & developers the county has built very successful local companies operating nationwide but based locally. Companies like Simons Group, Lindum, Stirling Developments, Manorcrest and Gelder have the capacity to take on multi million pound projects. Some of these along with a very strong professional service supply chain resource of consultants, agents, contractors, legal & finance. Will be exhibiting at the Invest East Midlands sponsored Property & Business Investment Show at the Bentley Hotel Lincoln on Wednesday 25th April & Nottingham on Mon 5th November. Invest East Midlands is a not for profit partnership of public & private sector companies and organisations supporting economic growth for the Region by encouraging & helping inward & UK indigenous investors locate to the East Midlands Region.

ottingham is much more than just Robin Hood and lace, with those who live, work and invest in the city able to benefit from a huge amount of investment and regeneration in recent years. And arguably the best is yet to come. The flagship £250m regeneration of the city’s intu Broadmarsh shopping centre, adjacent car park and Nottingham College ‘City Hub’ is beginning to take shape. These developments are expected to boost the local economy by over £1.1 billion per decade, create nearly 3,000 jobs for local people and attract an extra three million people a year to the city. This is part of a plan to reimagine the ‘southern gateway’ as a
welcoming, attractive and prosperous route into the city centre from Nottingham railway station. This adds to a sense of ambition and optimism already building, following last year’s bid for the 2023 European Capital of Culture. The city, a UNESCO City of Literature, is also home to a world-class arts space in the shape of Nottingham Contemporary and is renowned for its dynamic, rebellious but warm attitude. There are a number of further developments in the pipeline,
two key projects include the £120m redevelopment of the former Guildhall in the heart of the city centre, with proposals including a four-star hotel and a refurbishment of the city’s main library, which could provide a further 100,000 sq.ft of Grade A office space overlooking the iconic Old Market Square. Other standouts for Nottingham include office costs which
are 5-7% lower than the UK average, over 60,000 students attending its two world class universities and an award-winning public transport infrastructure, which is one of the greenest in the UK. The Invest in Nottingham team can help whether you are looking for start-up premises or locating a headquarters - its team of specialists are backed up by a first class business network, to ensure your business needs are met on every step of the way.

significant scheme we have been working to bring forward for some time. Alongside the other investment work across the borough, the close fit with the housing strategy in the Local Plan in the Grimsby West area, the pilot Grimsby Town Deal announced in the Industrial Strategy last year, and more than £10m investment in Cleethorpes, it’s clear that we’re changing the face of the area for years to come.” Further information can also be found online at
