BAKEUP Gaming platform Drest has partnered with experimental beauty brand Bakeup on an exclusive collection of virtual make-up looks. Bioré apologises for influencer ad


referencing school shooting US Bioré has issued an apology after an influencer referred to a school shooting in an partnership post promoting the brand’s pore strips. The video sees influencer Cecilee Max- Brown discussing her anxieties after surviving the Michigan State University shooting in February 2023, which claimed the lives of three students. The clip, which has since been deleted, showed her promoting the


Japan-based skin care brand’s pore strips as a way to “strip away the stigma of anxiety”.


“Life has thrown countless obstacles at me this year – from a school shooting to having no idea what life is going to look like after college,” she said in the video, which was viewed more than 5 million times. “In support of Mental Health Awareness Month, I’m partnering with Bioré


Timothée Chalamet joins Chanel as face of Bleu De Chanel


FRANCE Chanel has named actor Timothée Chalamet as the new ambassador of its Bleu De Chanel fragrance. The 27-year-old rose to fame in Luca Guadagnino’s 2017 coming of age film Call Me by Your Name and has since appeared in high-profile movies including Little Women and Dune.


The French fashion and beauty house praised Chalamet’s “audacious style and unapologetic charm”,

VACATION SECURES $6M IN SERIES A INVESTMENT TO GROW THE BRAND


US Sun lotion company Vacation has completed its series A fundraising round, raising US$6m. The funding will be used to expand the Miami-based brand’s distribution nationwide via new retail partnerships. It will also develop more ‘leisure-enhancing’ sunscreen products, working with the likes of Carlos Huber, founder of Arquiste Parfumeur; Rodrigo Flores-Roux, Senior Perfumer at Givaudan; and Dr Elizabeth Hale, Dermatologist and Senior Vice President of the Skin Cancer Foundation. Vacation will also use the money to recruit more in-house talent. Investment has come from the likes of True Beauty


Ventures, BFG Partners, Sonoma Brands and Marla Beck, the co-founder and former CEO of Bluemercury, not to mention David Grutman, founder of Groot Hospitality, and Heela Yang Tsuzuki, co-founder and CEO of Sol de Janeiro. Vacation was founded in 2020 by Marty Bell, Lach Hall and Dakota Green with the aim to make sunscreen ‘fun’.


UK Perfumer H has received further investment from Fable Investments, the venture capital arm of Natura & Co.


The British perfume brand, founded by perfumer Lyn Harris, will use the funds to extend its product range and strengthen the management team. It will also use the investment to support its expansion into Asia, with retail stores in Taiwan and Hong Kong planned for Q2 and Q3 2023. “[We are] excited to strengthen the


outstanding partnership initiated with Fable Investments to continue to build on our unique refill proposition in the fragrance world and expand our retail concept globally,” said Harris. Fable Investments


originally made a minority investment into the company in 2021.


Harris, who trained as a perfumer in Paris with fragrance company Robertet, established Perfumer H in 2015.
