I think there are many shooters out there who will find a gunlight kit for under £120 is something very much within their budget and suits their needs perfectly
That all sounds great, but aren’t gunlight kits a bit old-hat?
“It’s true that the night vision market has exploded in the last couple of years, with prices coming down and technology moving fast. However, with prices still above the £300-mark for an entry-level unit which is still often limited by the scope you use with it too, I think there are many shooters out there who will find a gunlight kit for under £120 is something very much within their budget and suits their needs perfectly. Having said that, as the popularity of night vision equipment gathers more pace, we have included an IR illuminator module as part of the Richter Optik Gunlight Kit which means for those shooters who do use night vision but need an additional illuminator, the Richter Gunlight Kit is still an attractive option for them too.”
So what’s included in the kit?
“The complete kit includes the Richter Optik branded gunlight unit itself with push-button tail cap which is standard with most conventional flashlights. We have also included a remote switch complete with hook and loop attachment, so that shooters can mount the switch on their rifle in the most convenient position. Or it can be used simply with the tail

button too if that’s what is preferred. Instead of having a pressure on and off remote switch, the remote is a quiet click on and click off switch. Pressure switches are good for fast shooting, but I find my thumb can sometimes slip off the pressure switch or I find I’m having to adapt how I hold the rifle to be able to hold the button down at the same time. Inside the box there’s also a figure of eight clamp for attaching the gunlight to a scope, plus the multiple LED modules. There are three colour LED modules in red, green and white each providing 250 lumens out to around 300 yards, and then the additional 850nm IR illuminator module. In order to power the unit, I didn’t want to have to un-mount the light to stick a charging cable in or have the gunlight or rifle unusable for a period of time whilst the battery charges. So the kit contains two 18650 rechargeable batteries and an external battery charging cradle. That way you can have one battery in use in the gunlight, whilst having the second battery on charge back at home or in the car. The battery can also be changed with having to take the unit off the rifle. I was also keen for the whole kit to fit into one box. Not oversized or fancy, just a place where everything in the kit can be kept together and safely protected.”
It really sounds like you have put the shooter’s needs first in the development of the Richter Gunlight Kit. What’s in the future for the Richter Optik brand?
“Based on the early success of the Gunlight Kit, we are looking to develop the range further and grow the Richter brand. There are more new products in the pipeline, watch this space! “The new Richter Gunlight + Illuminator Kit is available in the UK now. There is also a lot of information on the website too at
