Wychwood’s carp care range is one of the most comprehensive on the markets – T&G takes a deep dive into it…

arp brands may focus heavily on the big ticket items like rods, reels and shelters that speak about the end user’s on-the-bank identity but fish care products are where a brand’s reputation can be made; offering anglers a way to land, unhook and return their precious quarry that is all about safety and protection can’t be underestimated and Wychwood is one such brand that has focussed heavily on this key sector of the marketplace.

The Wychwood Net Station is a very handy piece of kit indeed!
Landing Nets There are three offerings; the first two are new for 2022, 42” big fish nets that fall into the Riot and Extremis ranges. The Riot with its moulded spreader block and fibreglass arms is the more affordable model at under £70 and the Extremis sits closer to the £100 price tag, justified by a full carbon construction, metal spreader block and a handy magnetic feature that prevents the mesh blowing around or getting caught on snags. Both come with 1-piece and

2-piece handle options and all come with a net float supplied. The third net type is the Specimen Quickfold, which is very much aimed at the general specimen market but in the largest 30” size, is perfect for use as a stalking net for carp. One of the self-tensioning arms disengages from the spreader so it can fold to fit into a mat or quiver, making it a roving angler’s dream. There ae 22” and 25” versions also available, all under £30.
Net Station One of the THE most underrated
products on the market, the Net Station, has been around for a decade now and is a super-handy piece of kit at a bargain £22.99. It’s basically reminiscent of an ‘up & over’ set of seatbox balling arms but design to hold a landing net handle. The design means you can attach it to banksticks and when you’re readying a mat, leave the fish in the net know it’s safe. A clip prevents the net from being pulled in and the metal construction means it’s durable. Several fisheries
around the UK have these installed on their swims, testament to the product’s functionality.
Slings Wychwood range two Floating
Weigh Slings- both feature quick-drain, fish-friendly mesh that is expected from end users, plus features like full-length zip closure, super-strong lifting handles at each end plus weighing straps, and built-in floats to keep the sling on the surface and visible. Both the standard version and the tactical offering are keenly priced at £49.99, with the latter being a foldable design to be even more compact for on-the-go anglers. The brand also does a more traditional (and even more compact) sack/weigh sling that folds down to nothing so is perfect as a backup or when you need to travel super-light. It’s less than £25 and comes supplied with a hi-viz ‘H’ block. There also a Specimen Sling that’s under a tenner that shares the same material as the carp version but is 20% smaller and aimed at general specialist anglers.
