AMI GUEST accredited ‘The Ultimate Yacht Purser Course’ ensures students have theoretical knowledge and practical skills to excel in their yachting careers. A lack of experience is the most significant hurdle to landing a first purser role. The yachting industry has changed drastically over the past ten years, yachts are becoming increasingly large and more difficult to manage. Step into your next role confidently knowing that you have the knowledge and skills to succeed on board. The course covers a vast array of essential topics, but the assignments are where the magic and learning happen. Students experience a full rotation of purser duties from understanding yachting laws and regulations, completing leave sheets and payroll for over 20 crew, managing charter APA accounts, creating an itinerary from scratch, budgeting and accounting, port clearance tasks, creating crew lists and understanding the certificates and declarations needed for a port call. Principal trainer, Sandra Jordaan, worked as a chief stewardess and purser for 10 years. With over six years of tertiary education herself, she brings an abundance of experience and knowledge to the superyacht training sector. Sandra is also on the PYA council for crew wellbeing.
