Founded for the sole purpose of refitting and repairing superyachts, KRM Shipyards specialise in servicing superyachts in the 30 to 40 metre range but is capable of handling craft up to 50 metres. The main facility of the KRM shipyard is located in Tuzla, just a 15-minute drive from the international airport and this allows for quick and easy access for crew and owners alike. As a facility it is part of a large marina with shopping malls, entertainment places, cinemas and a luxury hotel all located within walking distance. With secondary service points in Gocek Antalya Bodrum and Yalova, the company offers a Turkey wide support service to local craft and visiting foreign flagged superyachts.
Some modern-day facilities are not even shipyards in true sense of the word. They are instead clusters of nautical excellence and Ports of Toulon is a prime example. PORT DENIA Located midway between Valencia and Alicante in Spain, Port Denia Superyacht Marina and Shipyard is positioned in the centre of cosmopolitan Denia and provides stern-to berths up to 65m LOA and a 138m alongside berth. The shipyard boasts two 80 metre slipways, capable of hauling out vessels of up to 1200 GT in weight and with a beam of up to 15 metres width. A 150 tonne travel lift that operates in the dry dock area of the shipyard lifts vessels out at the end of the ‘waiting dock’, with the travel lift can manoeuvre yachts up to 35 metres in length. The shipyard facilities also include a dry dock area of 21,000 square metres. Easily accessible from land or sea, the dry dock area can accommodate all sizes of vessels on the ‘hard standing’. To accompany the on site facilities there is 2000 square metres of indoor workshops, specialist work areas for metal work, carpentry, electrics, electronics, engineering, interior design, rigging and painting projects.
