The first thing to consider is that the information and structure of your CV is very different for a shoreside role. You need to spend time translating everything that you did in your role on-board into shore-based language. We get sent a number of crew CVs for shore-based roles that are not fit for purpose. Other things to consider are that pay will usually differ and tax will probably be applied to your take home pay. It is also important to point out that when applying for a shore-based role you need to be able to identify why you are relevant for that role and that’s usually based on your skill set, your personality as well as your knowledge of the industry and your experience working on yachts. Last but not least, I’d always advise to invest time in yourself in training and development and come with a realistic mindset that you might have to take one step back before you take two steps forward.
It’s well known that a
Captain’s life is a very busy one with not only the day- to-day running of the boat to look after, but also the management and wellbeing of its crew to oversee. However, by engaging the services of an efficient yacht management support partner the burden of sole responsibility on the Captain can be significantly reduced with the effective provision of important but time-consuming functions. Amongst the many valuable support services that be provided are end-to-end payroll management, pre- paid card provisioning and proactive funding, advanced provisional allowance (APA) management, preparation of seafarers employment agreements / contracts of employment (compliant with MLC), management / settlement, management and financial reporting, arranging crew and yacht insurance, banking services, the list goes on. Trusted and efficient crew management support provides peace of mind.
There are numerous
VSAT and 4G choices available on the market today. However, it’s rarely considered how a hybrid network can deliver a more reliable internet connection than a singular network. By having both 4G and VSAT on board, should you lose 4G signal, you can automatically switch to your VSAT coverage for non-stop connectivity. The two networks also come with their own strengths for certain applications. With a roaming Sim, such as the Excelerate 4G Sim, you can also switch networks and countries seamlessly with one Sim card. So, what perplexes me is why aren’t more people utilising this? Often, you can achieve better performance and more cost-effective connectivity if you have the right provider. So, I would say, look at your options, shop around and find a supplier that not only offers you the option for hybrid connectivity but also offers the flexible tariffs to go alongside it.
We are getting
increased requests for the ultimate experience rather than just one product. This can be anything from creating a seasonal setup onboard a charter yacht or designing, building, and customising the ultimate “man cave” toy garage. Although the experience focusses on the final outcome, we also ensure the experience for the crew, broker, yacht manager and/or purchaser is just as smooth – synergy between everyone in the chain is fundamental to a successful outcome in the superyacht industry. At Superyacht Tenders and Toys we design our toy packages to suit each individual request. With a wealth of knowledge and personality every team member is able to add benefit to our supply whether it’s during the quoting, engineering or after sales and support stage. We proudly and pro-actively support clients from day one, to delivery, and for the entire usable lifespan of the product.
