EXECUTIVE HIRE SHOW REVIEW continued

Sealey’s battery-free jump starter sparks interest

Sealey Group says its quest to produce ever-more effective jump starters has seen it ditch the battery pack for a set of supercapacitors. Based on the same stop-start technology found in modern cars, its zero- maintenance unit holds its charge for years, yet still functions when called upon, states the manufacturer. Priced from

£250, the company says this makes it a great potential up-sell for hirers, or for use by their own service technicians. The device comes in two sizes: an 800A 12V version for compact plant, cars and LCVs, and a 1600A variant suitable for bigger vehicles and machines with up to 6-litre petrol or 4-litre diesel engines.

Sheffield-based Killis exhibited its i-mop range of hand-held floor cleaners which, it claims, can match the performance of equivalent walk-behind or ride-on machines. The i-mop delivers 22kg of brush pressure, while its 45cm cleaning width is equivalent to a far larger 60 litre walk- behind machine, states the company. It is also compact, making it easy to transport and store. Power comes

from a Lithium-ion battery providing one hour of run time, and taking one hour to recharge from

flat, meaning two battery packs support continuous use. 0114 269 8686

On safari with HGI

The Show enabled HGI’s (Harrington Generators International) new MD Stuart Winhope to make contact with hire industry professionals. He is pictured, left, with his predecessor Bryan Harris who is retiring. Stuart has previously worked in industries such as cleaning equipment manufacture, plant, quarrying and other markets served by hirers. The machines on the stand were adorned with eye-catching images of

wild animals like elephants, lions and gorillas to stress the message of power associated with them. New models include the heavy-duty HRD060, a 6kVA generator designed for hire, and the standard-specification HSD 200, a 20kVA machine. HGI, which this year celebrates its 40th anniversary, is donating the HRD060 from the stand to the Born Free Foundation to power wildlife care projects in Africa.

Power Towers’ dynamic Duo

Power Towers launched its new Duo two-person lift. Designed as an efficient alternative to scaffold towers, it provides a maximum working height of 5.1m and a 250kg lift capacity, rated for two people with tools. The push-around machine,

pictured, is just 780mm wide, meaning it can pass through a standard doorway. It has Power Towers’ patented automatic stabiliser deployment, as well as its

interlock safety system, which prevents the machine from elevating until the stabilisers are properly deployed. Weighing less than 400kg, it is easily transported in a light commercial vehicle. The company also showed its new Pecolift 1.2, a smaller and lighter

version of its established one-person model. Providing a maximum working height of 3.2m, it is designed as an alternative to ladders and podiums.
