EXECUTIVE HIRE SHOW REVIEW continued
Simon Luscombe from Luscombe Plant & Tool Hire, left, with EHN Editor Alan Guthrie
“ I only flew back from a three-week holiday
in Australia the day before the Show opened, touching down at the airport at 1.30 in the afternoon, after a journey lasting 29 hours! I wasn’t going to miss the exhibition, so after recovering for a day back home in Ulverston, I set off very early on Thursday morning to get to the Ricoh. There were just so many contacts I wanted to meet up with and new things to see. As well as having a good look on the Niftylift
stand, I bought some more equipment from T-T Pumps, and I was able to speak with a lot of other industry professionals here.

Ray Woods from Southport Hire Centre
“ I find the Show invaluable
for being able to see the latest equipment available. Months later, you invariably get enquiries from customers who need a solution for a specific project or unexpected problem, and you’ll remember a product you saw at the exhibition, so attending the Show can really help your business. I was very impressed by
a new turf scarifier on the PSD/Ready4Rent stand, which seems very well designed and robust. I also touched base with Top Service
and found out more about their credit information services. And it was great to see Hiretech back at the Show again after many years, exhibiting their range of floor sanders.

“ The reason for attending the Show this year was not to make any specific
purchases this time, but to check out the latest innovations and to catch up with JCB regarding some dumpers we had already ordered - I am pleased to say they should be with us in March. We also had a chat with Josh and Mat from MHM and, as a result, since the Show we have been in touch with them regarding some lighting towers. We also brought
along Business Development Manager, Rick, our latest team member. He has been in the industry for many years and attending the exhibition that allowed us to be personally introduced to his
wealth of contacts there. As always, the Show was very well attended. It’s great to come along to meet the suppliers in person, some of which you may have been dealing with every week for years, but never actually met before.

“ As always we thoroughly enjoyed our two days at the Show.
We particularly liked the new floor layout and there were a vast number of new products on display. We bought quite a few new items of plant and equipment including the new Belle bowser pressure washer, diesel vibrating plates and concrete pokers. In addition, it also gave us the opportunity to view a several items of equipment that we may invest in later this year.

As always, we attended the Show
to see all our regular suppliers at the same time and to meet some new ones, all under one roof. As a busy independent hirer, we sometimes struggle to afford time to sales staff when they come to our premises, so it’s an ideal opportunity for us to make up for that. We also take advantage of Show specials, which make the trip even more worthwhile. This time around, we placed firm
orders with Brendon and Obart, as well as looking at new products in particular from Hilti, Belle and Lyte Ladders & Towers. We also spoke with Xenith Heights and Dustcontrol UK, who we met for the first time, and whom we’re likely to be ordering from very soon. All in all, another good Show, and we look forward to returning once again next year.

“ 2019 was the
first time we have attended both days of the event, which we found to be particularly beneficial. We were chatting to suppliers and getting our bearings on the first day, networking at the evening Party, and then making decisions on the second morning. Amongst the

equipment that we purchased this year were power floats, trench rammers and vibrating plates from Altrad Belle, 1000mm tile saws from CLM, vacuum slab lifters from Probst, stump grinders from HSC, Bumpa hoists from Mace, diesel pressure washers from Brendon Powerwashers, scaffold towers from Euro Towers and floor tile strippers from National Flooring Equipment, whose products I was particularly impressed with.
