STAND D40 GOOD GOING AT CLM
CLM Construction Supplies have been firm fixtures at the Executive Hire Show for as long as we can remember; the company always doing brisk
business with its range of resin and concrete mixers, tile and masonry saws, specialist diamond cutting blades and assorted lifting products.

s the company prepares its EHS 2023 space on stand D40 on the front row of
the main hall, we caught a quick Q&A with marketing whizz Emily-Grace Rickett, who previously worked for an exhibition stand builder before joining the company.
Firstly, how has business been for CLM over the last 12 months?
“We’ve had a good year. The boom in the construction industry after the country opened back up after the pandemic was a really good time for us. One of the things we’ve struggled with has been supply and demand, due to equipment shortages from our suppliers.”
The CLM supplies some specialised equipment, what have been you most popular products this year?
“We have sold a significant amount of scaffold hoists this year and continue to supply MABER rack and pinion hoists to construction firms across the UK & Ireland.”
Times are hard at the moment, so everybody appreciates a great deal. What has CLM been doing in this regard?
“We have some great offers on our website at the moment. We have reduced the prices of some of our best-selling equipment and have also put together some bundles for maximum value for money. We understand that a concern at the moment is how far will their money stretch, so in light of this, we are doing everything we can to offer the best prices.”
Several hirers and manufacturers have commented that trading is starting to settle back down to pre-pandemic levels. Nobody is complaining, of course, but has this been your experience too?
“We’ve been fortunate enough to have a steady flow of orders throughout the year,

but we are mindful that this could slow down due to the financial impact that the government’s new budget is having on the economy.”
Has CLM added any new products to the range this year – If so, what are they?
“We have recently received the new IMER 360 Plus R Mixer. We are launching a few new items at the show, but you’ll have to visit us on stand D40 to find out!”
You have a useful combination of skills, in having worked for an exhibition stand builder and now working for a prominent exhibitor. In all your experience, what advice would you share and what mistakes have you seen?
“I think an eye-catching stand is always a positive. Clear and concise information about your products and services, along with knowledgeable staff that can really make or break your exhibition.
The information needs to be memorable, so that you leave a lasting impression on attendees. Leaflets are good to have so that attendees have something to take away, but again keep the information clear and concise, otherwise it’ll end up in a desk drawer or even worse, in the bin. Branded merchandise always works well, something that is useful or ‘quirky’, because, let’s face it, everyone loves a freebie!
Mistakes I’ve seen in the past include exhibitors forgetting business cards or having no contact information on their literature, and having to write information down, but not having a pen! It sounds really daft but it happens more often than you think.”
CLM is one of the longest standing EHS exhibitors. What changes have you noticed and what are the benefits for you?
“The show has grown from strength to strength over the years, and the number of exhibitors has vastly increased. This is a great opportunity for anyone within the hire industry to network and connect with various suppliers, and a chance for new equipment to be demonstrated.
We’ve always had a great experience at the show. It gives us a chance to meet up with clients and has enabled new relationships to develop. It’s a great opportunity to learn all about new trends and to meet like-minded companies.”
Finally, are you planning any changes for the year ahead?
“We’re launching a new website at the end of this year. The existing website has needed updating for some time, and we are moving over to Shopify. This will provide customers with a smoother check-out service.” n
