STAND C34 SPICK AND SPAN

Brendon Powerwashers has been coming to the show for a great many years. With new equipment scheduled for 2023, we caught a chat with Sales Director Chris Hendy.

rendon Powerwashers flew the flag with pride and success at the Bauma tradeshow in October, its Munich

stand auguring well for its EHS 2023 showcase.

The company itself has been enjoying continued growth in the UK and export markets in recent years, as UK & Exports Sales Director Chris Hendy explains:

“It’s been very good – we cover a range of cleaning solutions and we export a lot as well, so we are pretty well spread.

“Our products are built to last and we have been coming to the show ever since the Hirex days in 1988.”

Chris and Rob Hendy formed Brendon Powerwashers just a few years earlier, in 1984. Have you kept hold of any of your customers from those early days?

“I was just looking back through our database and there’s quite a few actually. One of our oldest customers is Can-Do Tool Hire. They bought one of the first 20KPEs in 1993, which is a little petrol- powered machine that we do, and they bought another one at the last Executive Hire Show – over the years they have added other models – but it is a testament to the company and this model that they have purchased again nearly 20 years on.

reliable, and cost effective for the rental market. ‘Built To Last’ was the company slogan way back in 1988, and it holds true to the complete product range today.”

The business is nearly 40 years old now. Has the company ever thought about manufacturing other sorts of equipment?

A blast from the past, with a youthful Chris Hendy (left) and his brother Rob.

“We only make powerwashers. That’s what we’ve always done and that’s why we’re still here. This has proven to be the right decision, because it means that we know exactly what we’re doing and we know our products inside and out.”

“Machines like the Brendon Dustec DT400, a unique and innovative water-powered solution for safe and economical on site dust control, and we have refinements for some of the mobile machines. We have got other new equipment coming out later in 2023 incorporating some of the latest green technology available.”

We look forward to hearing a lot more about that in due course. Meanwhile, the current Brendon Powerwashers range is certainly built to withstand the rigours of the hire sector, thus it is bound to go an absolute bundle at the Executive Hire Show. n

That’s an interesting point – are your products so well made that customers will only ever need to buy one machine?

“It depends where they’re going and how they’re used. There’s an excellent secondhand market for our equipment, such as in the agricultural sector. If a machine is built well, it holds its value better, is more

There’s an obvious need for your products in the hire sector, especially for washing down on building sites and machinery. Is this a mainstay for your business?

“We sell into into many industries – for instance Chelsea Football Club has got a couple of our machines dating back to 1999. However, the hire sector is very important to us, and, for some of our machines, people are often better off renting than buying them.”

Speaking of equipment, what will you be bringing along to the Executive Hire Show in February?
