Product innovation - ExEcutivE REPORt
“We have exhibited at the Executive Hire Show every year since it began,” he continues. “The show is the springboard into the year. The Innovation Trail validates the investment of manufacturers in research and development and also demonstrates that they are listening to hirers by giving them the next generation of products and solutions.”
First in class Thwaites’ entry into the Innovation Trail is the first three tonne dumper in its class to be fully battery powered.
“Thwaites has exhibited at the Executive Hire Show since its conception,” says General Sales Manager Andy Sabin, “The Innovation Trail is recognised by the business as a welcome addition to the show.
“As the demand for cleaner alternative fuel sources grows, Thwaites are keen to ensure they offer a quality product that delivers for its customers and the environment,” adds Sabin. “Following distributor consultation, Thwaites expects the machine to be well received by the rental market, with the three tonne, all electric dumper offering a cleaner, quieter alternative.

“A huge amount of thought went into developing the SY19E,” says Marketing Manager Charlotte Bright. “It goes beyond reducing carbon and noise emissions to also embrace improvements to durability and operational performance.”
With significantly lower noise levels at 66dB, the mini excavator is designed for use wherever zero emissions and reduced noise levels are required. It also uses a cobalt-free lithium iron phosphate battery, which lasts up to six hours and can be fast charged in just 1.5 hours. Features for better performance include a high resolution 7” touch screen, load sensing hydraulics and an additional proportional control circuit.
The SY19E makes its UK debut at this The Thwaites electric dumper is powered by four lithium ion batteries.
“With hirers across the country consistently looking for a competitive advantage, products that are built to be the best, reduce running cost, are good for the environment and offer the same level of productivity are always going to be in demand. In entering the Innovation Trail, Thwaites can show this latest product first, directly to industry owners and decision makers.”
The new dumper features four maintenance- free, long-life, lithium-ion batteries, providing a total of 23kWh of energy – Thwaites says this is more than ample for a standard eight- hour shift. The machine has a similar unladen weight to the Thwaites diesel/hydrostatic version. However, the main battery pack and driveline components now sit low in the rear chassis, lowering the centre of gravity when compared to the hydrostatic drive machine, further improving machine stability. It will be available to UK hirers later in 2023.
“This gives contractors options to utilise the machine in more urban refurbishment settings, where noise and fuel pollution is an existing challenge. In addition, the new machine is compliant with the growing number of authorities and bodies that operate low emission zones.”
Design overhaul When electrifying its mini excavators, SANY took the opportunity to completely overhaul the machine’s design.

year’s Executive Hire Show. “The Innovation Trail is a great opportunity to highlight SANY’s holistic approach to innovation,” adds Bright. “It showcases the best in new technology to the hire sector which naturally is a key target audience for us.” n
