cabinets. These cabinets are the ideal fast screen exposure solution to complement the SPYDER II. Their front door screen loading and unloading system is quick and simple and the modern LCD touch screen user interface has 15 fully programmable user defined memory presets for storing different mesh count and emulsion type setups.

Direct to garment printing

Yet again, Printwear & Promotion LIVE! proved the ideal place to see many launches of new direct to garment printers, including a few surprise launches along the way. One such surprise was the launch of Roland DGʼs first desktop direct to garment printer – the VersaSTUDIO BT-12. News of the launch was only announced a few days before the start of the annual exhibition and the positive response it received from visitors was unsurprising. The BT-12 is an easy- to-use A4 size printer that prints full colour graphics including photos, logos and text directly on a wide variety of cotton-based items.

Last but not least, over Barudanʼs stand the team were busy demonstrating the new BEXT-S1501CBIII single head embroidery machine. The model on display was the one that is currently being sold in America. The model that Barudan UK will be launching later in the year will feature a couple of modifications, with the most obvious difference being the addition of a touch screen.

Screen printing

Dotted around the exhibition, those involved in the screen printing market could discover some innovative new products. Screen Print World brought to the exhibition a new automatic screen print carousel in the shape of the M&R Diamondback E. The Diamondback series of screen printing presses have changed from pneumatic print heads to electric print heads, improving the overall print stroke control leading to better and more consistent ink deposit and overall print quality. Dave Roper, managing director, commented that many visitors said it was nice to see an automatic press at the show.

Another surprise launch was the release of the latest DTG printer from Polyprint – the TexJet Echo 2, which could be found on Amaya Sales UKʼs stand. The features of this printer were kept under wraps until the opening of the exhibition. This machine is reportedly the most cost-effective on the market for users who want to print around 50 T shirts a day. It has a print area of 41x60cm and can print up to 35 white T shirts an hour. Peter Wright, managing director of Amaya, reports that a number of orders were taken at the show and afterwards.

Over on H.G Kippaxʼs stand visitors could view two new products – the Inpro screen cleaning unit and a UV LED exposure unit. Inpro has created an all-in-one system which makes easy work of preparing a used screen ready to use again. Features of the new UV LED exposure unit include increased light lifespan, 80% reduction in power usage, space saving designs, customisable inputs with recall memory and an easy use touch screen. EXILE Technologies ran live demonstrations on both the FREEStyler DTS and SPYDER II computer to screen systems, including the new VLUX and VLUX-XL vertical screen exposure

On Resolute DTGʼs stand the new Ri 1000 from Ricoh was busy drawing attention. It prints full colour 10x8in graphics on light garments in less than 28 seconds. Colin Marsh, managing director of Resolute DTG, reports that record sales across all products on stand were made in the first hour of the show opening on Sunday.
