AS Colour ranks highly in the 2021 Ethical Fashion Report


S Colour has joined brands such as Nike, Puma and Patagonia in receiving an A grade in the 2021 Ethical Fashion Report. 98 companies, representing 420 brands, were comprehensively surveyed across 18 different facets of their supply chains broadly covering: policies and governance, tracing and risk, supplier relationships and human rights monitoring, worker empowerment and environmental sustainability. Each company received a grade from A+ to F based on the evidence made available either publicly or directly to the Ethical Fashion Report research team. AS Colour received an overall grade of A. One partnership of AS Colour’s that was highlighted in the report, was the brand’s

relationship with Reemi – a non-profi t organisation that works to prioritise women’s health in the garment industry. Together, they provide health education and innovative, culturally appropriate, self-sterilising menstrual solutions to female garment workers in two of AS Colour’s factories. Shanne Pritchard, production and compliance manager, AS Colour, said: ‘’Being graded can be a nerve-wracking experience for businesses, but we found it a very positive exercise. There is defi nitely a lot of work that goes into our involvement, but throughout the process, you get to highlight and look back on, the policies or work, you constantly chip away at. Gildan’s sales volumes return to pre-pandemic levels


ildan Activewear has reported record results for the third quarter of 2021, with sales volumes now


above pre-pandemic levels.


Glenn J. Chamandy, Gildan president and CEO, said: “Our record performance for the third quarter was driven by the improved economics of our business, underpinned by our Back to Basics model, the operational excellence of our team and the ongoing recovery in demand, which drove sales volumes which are now above pre-pandemic levels. “Further, I feel confi dent that our team will continue to navigate through the tight supply chain environment, manage

infl ationary pressures and deliver results for our shareholders as we continue to move forward.”


Gildan generated sales of $802 million for the quarter, up 33% over the prior and 8% above the third quarter of 2019. Activewear sales reached $656 million, up 44% on the third quarter of 2020. A gross profi t of $282 million was achieved during the quarter. Gildan reports that recovery from the pandemic continues to progress well in North America driving positive POS trends compared to pre-COVID 2019 levels.
