Park Update www.parkworld-online.com

can fit in the manufacturer’s schedule? The answer is simple, you go back to the favourites. We knew we wanted a Regatta, with Zierer we quickly came to an agreement and started theming. We also wanted to have our guests upside-down, this is where the ancient Mesoamerican ceremony the “Danza de los Voladores” gave us inspiration and could be brought to life with Technical Park’s Aerobat Sky Rush. Three existing rides were repurposed to flesh out the area and create a unit: a tea-cup ride and small

dragon merry-go-round made by Modern Products and a Calypso- type ride named Mexican Twist built by Bembom Limited. Our fiesta was nearly complete.

Keeping it green We set out to build a new area with the smallest impact as possible on the environment. We therefore chose to use Redi-Rock blocks to build all the necessary walls (easy to install without

foundations and reusable), the existing stonework was crushed and re-used as infill material. All the vegetation was relocated including all the 30-year- old-trees. Midway games and new restrooms were built in a Mexican hacienda style, and operator booths were sculpted.

Space was left over to prepare for further developments in later years and would temporarily have picnic tables for guest to rest. This did not happen! Our industry is a rollercoaster and you must always welcome the unexpected, especially when it comes at a great price. We learned that another park wanted to sell their Huss Bee Bee ride. It could fit in our “spare” space and fitted both with our general objectives to have fun dynamic rides in “Mexico” and create a greener image around honeybees. Suddenly we had a new area with three new rides. This area opened on the 12th of June (when parks could open once again in France). It has received overwhelming positive reviews from our guests, and we believe has been one of the contributing factors that helped save this season. Lots of enthusiasm has come from a project that should never have happened this year but did. We believe that keeping our employees in work, using local contractors to do the groundwork and not giving up during these uncertain times, have given “Mexico” a soul that resonates with our guests and staff alike.
