More than a theme park
Featuring 27 thrilling rides and attractions inspired by 13 of Hollywood’s most memorable live action and animated films, MOTIONGATE Dubai is the largest Hollywood-inspired theme park in the Middle East. Here, general manager, Denis Pascal tells Park World how the park survived Covid and why it continues to thrive.

ast year was a rollercoaster of a year for theme parks all over the world, and MOTIONGATE Dubai was not exempt from the ride. “We chose to be optimistic and focus on the future, using the months of temporary closure to fortify health and safety measures, refresh staff training with a focus on maintenance and enhancement, and prepare well for the re-opening.
That approach stood us in good stead and has been successful in building guests’ confidence to visit the park again,’ says Denis.
Since reopening in October 2020, MOTIONGATE Dubai has worked very hard to be a transmission-free venue and a destination for guests to create amazing memories. A robust communications programme and a community-focused event calendar have worked well in tandem to reassure, inform and woo guests back to the park.
Denis explains, “Prioritising health and well-being, we implemented enhanced health and safety measures to keep guests and staff safe, including stringent social distancing measures, contactless payment, reduced capacity in rides, shops and restaurants, and enhanced cleaning and disinfection measures. We currently comply with current guidelines from the UAE Ministry of Health and Prevention as well as WHO- approved international practices.” MOTIONGATE Dubai’s social calendar has amped up the

excitement, packing in regularly scheduled seasonal events at cost-effective prices, to make it attractive for families and groups. “From Halloween and Christmas to Diwali and Eid, our festive events celebrate the multicultural ethos of our home city, Dubai; while delivering memorable experiences for our guests,” says Denis. On these festive occasions, MOTIONGATE Dubai hosts cultural programmes, themed shows, traditional food kiosks and dials up the celebrations with lights and decorations. “This in turn, drives up community engagement as well as mentions on social media,” adds Denis.
A year-round destination MOTIONGATE Dubai offers something for everyone with a diversity of rides and attractions including five thrilling roller coasters, a drop tower, a water ride, interactive play labs, 3D motion simulators, live stage shows and more. A year-round destination, MOTIONGATE Dubai has many key attractions that are completely indoors, plus dedicated cooling areas and landscaping which provide shade throughout the park – essential aspects for entertainment destinations in the Middle East. Thoughtful touches such as in-park buggy rides during the hot summer months are said to be well appreciated by guests.
