park’s other rides are from local manufacturers, including Golden Horse and Nan Fang Rides. OCT’s own media group developed the media for the park’s VR attraction, as well as the 4-D theatre and the soaring-like simulator. About a third of the attractions are indoors, accounting

for some 3,000 square metres of retail and 6,000 square metres of F&B. Given the aggressive construction scheme – the park was built in less than two years - the achievement is impressive, although not all attractions were ready for guests at opening day. Happy Valley Chongqing will feature a reduced admission fee until all rides are fully operational. The first year attendance is projected to be 2 million, and the figure is expected to

grow to 3 million over the next few years. Unike most other OCT parks, Happy Valley Chongqing features a separate gated waterpark of 18 hectares in size. The park has a Mayan theme and features some 20 slides. The investment for the waterpark comes to 0.7 billion RMB (EUR 90M / USD$106 million). In addition to the above there is also a Broadway style theater and a 180-room hotel on property. An area of 30 hectares has been set aside for future

expansion, which could be either another gated attraction or be used to expand the Happy Valley theme park or the Maya Waterpark... Watch is this space!
