C

onstruction is in full swing outside Germany’s largest theme park, as little by little Rulantica, Europa-Park’s 450,000 square metre water park, is brought to

life. On 14 September, a foundation stone ceremony at the project site, attended by more than 250 members of the press, marked the fi rst offi cial step towards the opening of both water park and Europa-Park’s sixth themed hotel, Krønasår. This new development by the Mack Family, owners of Europa-Park, is the largest single investment in history for a private company in the region and the largest in the Park’s history. Europa-Park owner Roland Mack commented: “The expansion of our overall offer and the realization of this unique water world is an important step to secure the location. We can’t stand still if the region is to remain attractive to guests who are travelling from further afi eld. This lighthouse project not only provides a positive impulse for tourism development, but also creates 550 new jobs and increases leisure value for the local community.“

Nordic fun for the whole family Measuring approximately 32,600 square metres, the indoor area encompasses a total of 25 attractions set into eight Nordic-themed environments. Aiming to provide an unforgettable adventure for the whole family, these include seventeen spectacular water slides; the relaxing ‘Mystery River’; Germany’s biggest wave pool; and the mystic Trøll Valley, which is perfectly equipped for the needs of all little visitors. At 8,000 square metres, the large outdoor area features

a twenty metre high, shell-shaped hall, as well as the ‘Wild River’ feature, meaning the kids can play and swim outdoors whilst their parents relax and soak up some rays on one of the 500 outdoor deck chairs.

OCTOBER 2017

Longboats ahoy

Development on Europa- Park’s new Nordic-themed water park, set to open in 2019, is gathering momentum. Park World takes a closer look at the plans for Rulantica…

Those whose knees are feeling a little shaky after some

of the more adrenalin-fuelled features can swim to one of the conveniently located pool bars in the indoor or outdoor area. And after all the excitement, guests can head indoors to dry off in one of 1700 deck chairs. For those who want something a little more special, eight individual Cabañas with food and beverage service offer families upon request a private retreat.

Access is made easy, with a new bus shuttle service

between the new Water Adventure Resort, Europa-Park, and the other Europa-Park hotels providing convenient transport. The Rulantica development at Europa-Park joins existing water attractions such as Hansgrohe Water Playground and adrenalin water rides like Atlantica SuperSplash, Fjord- Rafting, and Poseidon to provide an extensive experience that will suit even the most avid of water park fans.
