Which seasonal events have proven to be the most successful for your park?


Dick Knoebel, Knoebel’s Amusement Resort: Our Hallo-Fun event takes place throughout the course of three weekends in October. Our team looks forward to decorating, and dressing in fall and Halloween attire. Great effort goes into transforming our Antique Cars into a haunted attraction, with abundant props and ghouls. Based on the crowds, predominantly families, this has proven to be a beneficial extension to our regular season.


Jessica Fricano, Storybookland: Our Christmas Fantasy with lights begins in mid-November with a parade, which concludes with the grand arrival of Santa and Mrs. Claus, and on the count of three the entire park is lit with approximately one million lights, with falling snow and a fifteen metre walk-through Christmas tree. It is a combination of these things that make our Christmas season so successful, bringing in families from all over the region.


Sabrina de Carvalho, Heide Park Resort: Halloween is the most successful of our various events, with special decorations like ghosts, pumpkins and cobwebs. During our dedicated Halloween weekends the park remains open until 10pm. The highlights are four mazes individually designed and operated by a specialized crew, and new in 2017 is Hotel Morton, a must see for thrill seekers and Halloween fans who are brave enough to face the fright of their lives.


Andreas Anderson, Liseberg Group: Definitely Christmas, but with Halloween coming in at a strong second. We have had Christmas at Liseberg since 2000, and the event has grown to attract more than 500 000 guests, every year. Before Christmas at Liseberg, November and December were very challenging for the hotels in Gothenburg – today both months are amongst the strongest. Halloween is a new event at Liseberg, but shows huge potential. We expected 100 000 guests the first year – but saw more than double. And we continue to develop and grow the event.


Nicolas Kremer, CEO of Parc Astérix: ‘Peur sur le Parc’ (Fear of the Park) is the flagship event at Parc Astérix. It is very popular amongst our visitors, and includes a lot of surprises. Every year, during two weeks in October, Parc Astérix changes appearance to include haunted houses, streets shows, metamorphosed attractions and terrifying figures. Several evenings are organized during ‘Peur Sur Le Parc’ to allow visitors to play scared at nightfall! Next year we will celebrate Peur Sur Le Parc’s 10th anniversary.
