Picking up from last our last issue, when large sections of the industry were at a standstill, it’s pleasing to see that more and more countries are getting the virus under control and being given the go-ahead to re-open for business. The industry has, as we all said it would, demonstrated its strength and resolve, adapting to the new normal by re-opening safely and with the guest experience intact. Of course, many of our readers for example those operating indoor attractions in certain areas of the globe, will still be waiting to be given the green light – let’s hope we get there soon. Our news pages (7-20) are full of stories about the

successful re-opening of outdoor attractions and while sadly IAAPA Expo Europe is unable to go ahead this year, I’m sure the industry will stand united in supporting all the next steps in this regard, including registering for next month’s first ever IAAPA’s first-ever online Expo and conference – IAAPA Virtual Expo: Asia which will take place live daily from 28-30 July. Watch this space for an update on the 2020 Park World Excellence Awards. Fårup Sommerland in Denmark officially inaugurated

its new Vekoma custom designed Family Boomerang Spirit ‘Saven’ on Friday 5 June (p23). In an exclusive chat with Stefan Holtman, sales manager, Vekoma and Fårup Sommerland, technical manager, Tue Albrektsen we find out why it’s the perfect fit. Leading on from this month’s great front cover, we

share the key points of Hologate’s set of Hygiene and Safety Standards for the location-based entertainment industry and reveal all about its partnership with Smart Tech UVC cleaning solution Cleanbox on page 26. We also catch up with Movie Park Germany( p29),

Efteling (p32) and Six Flags (p42) to find out what measures they are taking to protect the health of staff and guests returning to their parks, while in ‘Leveraging the power of digital’, Matthew Hoenstine, principal - destinations and Randy Josselyn, principal - wildlife and conservation, explain why capacity management and timed ticketing is fast becoming the norm (pp35-36) in part one of a two part series on the topic. On page 42 David Sangree looks at the impact of

COVID-19 on 2020 waterpark and resort trends in the US and Canada; he’s followed by an update on the situation in Brazil and Mexico from Astrid González Nariño on pages 48 – 51….

All this and much more inside! Enjoy the issue
