Park Update

An extraordinary fantasy adventure

Park World talks to Gardaland’s sales and marketing director, Luca Marigo about what it is that makes Italy’s oldest theme park a top visitor attraction to this day.

Fun Facts!

78% of visitors are families, while the remaining 22% are made up of teenagers and young adults between the ages of 15 and 24. 70% of guests in the Park are Italian; a significant majority of whom have annual passes, while 30% come from foreign reference markets

Gardaland has been open an impressive 75 years. It’s undergone quite some changes in recent times too hasn’t it? It should be mentioned that over time, and especially in the last ten years, our competitors have created; not only other amusement parks, but also shopping centres, multi-room cinemas, and many other forms of entertainment. This is why Gardaland has had to increase its offer, both

with seasonal events that allow it to lengthen the season’s activities in the Park and give visitors an incentive to visit in various periods of the year, and to fulfil the diverse entertainment needs of Gardaland’s different target groups, in line with the latest trends. Above all, our aim has been and remains that of passing from a “one day Parks visit” to a Resort Destination. And therefore, in 2002, we started to introduce events such as Gardaland Magic Halloween and Gardaland Magic Winter, and in 2004 we opened our first hotel, Gardaland Hotel, to which the Adventure Hotel was added in 2016 (and in 2019 we are going to open our third hotel, Magic Hotel); in 2007 we inaugurated Time Voyagers with 4D cinema to respond to market trends, while in 2015 we

introduced Gardaland Oktoberfest in the second half of September, after the beginning of the school year.

What was the inspiration for Fantasy Kingdom? Fantasy Kingdom was created for different reasons, but principally to open a large area that was completely themed, in other words, a Park within the Park, with Gardaland’s characteristic style, devoted to children from three to eight years old. Secondly – and less importantly – the area also hosts the House of our mascot, Prezzemolo, who is thrilled to welcome Guests from all over the world. Prezzemolo’s Tree has become an icon in the Park, and the symbol of the Gardaland’s Magic Adventure.

Has Peppa Pig Land been a hit too? The area has certainly been popular among all our visitors, above all – and obviously – by families with pre-school children. What our Guests have really loved – in addition to the tradition Meet & Greet with Peppa and George – is that the area has three totally themed rides that allow children to come into direct contact with Peppa’s world, and experience the world they know through the Peppa cartoons.
