After five years of development and construction, the Legacy-designed Shanghai Haichang Ocean Park made its debut on November 16, 2018. Built at a cost of $795 million, the 73-acre theme park is the first of its kind in Northeast China, and is expected to draw between 5-6 million visitors annually. Wang explains that the Dolphin Roller Coaster “is the masterpiece of Intamin,” describing the experience as 75 seconds “lengthened limitlessly out of the space and time.” The Sky Theatre <Space-time Sea>, meanwhile, is the only 360-degree holographic marine-themed omnimax theatre in China. This cosmic timeline is hidden in the Penguin Venue and “records the evolution process of the universe and life, and displays great changes of millions of years through holographic technology,” he says.

curves, ramps and tunnels in the overhead steel structure, trains run through the icebergs, making tourists feel like they are traveling in the North Pole.” Then there is the Space-time Cable Car. “With a total length of nearly 600 metres, the line “connects volcano and iceberg in the east and west regions of the park across the river,” says Wang, adding that at its highest point it is 30 metres.
