he development of new attractions and the number of attraction openings in the Middle East has continued unabated during the last twelve months. However, a number of flagship projects opened just over a year ago have, seemingly, failed to live up to expectations. Dubai Parks and Resorts reported 2.3 million visitors in 2017 - well below the 6.7 million that were hoped for. Not surprisingly, a lot of the focus at the parks is now on enhancing the guest experience, building awareness and finding economies. The lesson for anyone looking to use theme parks and large-scale attractions as economic and tourism drivers is that from a
