Paul Gauselmann, founder and former chairman of Merkur Group, has died at the age of 91. Gauselmann spent 67 years shaping the company, developing a one-man

Offshore gambling operators continue to account for a signifi cant share of Canada’s betting market, according to research published by
CasinoCanada.com.
The analysis of 301 gambling brands estimates offshore operator Stake to have a Canadian market value of CAD2.5bn, placing it ahead of regulated competitors. Four offshore brands feature among the country’s top 10. Figures cited from Blask indicate 66.47% of Canadian gamblers use licensed sites, compared with 33.53% using offshore platforms. However, offshore operators generated CAD712m in wagers against CAD484m for licensed sites. The report identifi es substantial differences between provinces, estimating offshore leakage

CasinoCanada argues that product availability is contributing to the trend, pointing to cryptocurrency and prediction markets as areas where offshore operators can offer products unavailable through some regulated platforms.
