INDUSTRY INTERVIEW: CHUCK ROBINSON - BETER

Setting the standard for BETER esports & betting

Chuck Robinson, chief revenue officer, BETER

Please tell us a bit about yourself, such as your industry background, and also some history of BETER.

I joined BETER as CRO (chief revenue officer) back in the Spring 2023, bringing more than 15 years of experience in business development to the organisation. Before joining, I’d spent almost a decade in the online gambling industry, helping organisations to build sales teams, enter new markets and implement marketing strategies.

I oversee the sales, marketing and account management teams, focusing on enhancing client services to elevate the overall customer experience.

BETER provides the betting industry with premium odds, data, and quality content from its in-house sports and esports tournaments. Neil Mead speaks to Chief Revenue Officer, Chuck Robinson about the esports specialist’s current solutions, latest developments, new partnerships and future of the esports, sports betting and iGaming markets.

BETER has been on a strong growth trajectory for the past seven years, driven by increasing demand for its fast betting content, data, and live streaming. Today, we have a strong presence in key markets worldwide, including Latin America and Europe. We offer more than 46,000 betting events each month across our proprietary esports and sports disciplines, such as ESportsBattle and Setka Cup table tennis tournaments, and we cover over 450 esports tournaments globally. Our team consists of more than 500 dedicated specialists, as well as over 1,500 athletes participating in our tournaments.

BETER has secured significant partnerships in the last few years. How do these collaborations align with your strategic objectives, and what benefits do they bring to your clients?

We are focused on striking partnerships with top-tier operators in markets across the world and allowing them to benefit from our fast betting content. In the last 12 months alone, we have added some big names to our roster of partners, including Superbet, Novibet, 10bet, Codere, SportyBet, and more. We work with operators and B2B platform providers in Latin America, Eurasia and Africa, and we are currently expanding into North America, most recently going live with Bet365 in New Jersey. Operators must offer fast betting content if they are to engage the next generation of bettors (especially Millennials and Gen Z) and provide them with the experiences they are seeking. These players want matches and bets that settle in minutes, not hours. There are additional upsides for operators, too, such as being able to offer betting action 24/7/365, keeping bettors engaged with their brands even when there is no real-world sports action

taking place. Of course, esports betting is now a significant vertical in its own right, and operators must offer a compelling experience if they are to compete with their rivals and attract the players of tomorrow, today.

Your flagship Esports product, ESportsBattle, offers extensive 24/7 coverage across multiple disciplines. Can you elaborate on how this product enhances player engagement and what unique features set it apart in the market? ESportsBattle is our proprietary tournament series with more than 35,000 monthly betting events across eFootball, which is by far our most popular discipline and comes in three formats (2x4, 2x6, and VOLTA), as well as eBasketball and eHockey delivered into 150+ countries. It offers round-the-clock coverage and betting markets, with 24 simultaneous streams during peak periods and a more than 90 percent uptime rate.

On average, operators can enjoy a margin of 7.5 percent. Over the last 12 months, we arranged more than 400,000 matches, an all-time record for our esports team. It has helped generate close to half a billion euros in GGR for ESportsBattle alone. It really is one of the most comprehensive and competitive fast betting products in the market, and that’s why so many top-tier operators now offer it to their customers.

BETER is committed to fast-paced betting content. How do you ensure the integrity and fairness of these rapid events, and what measures are in place to maintain transparency for operators and players? Integrity is the cornerstone of our operation, and we uphold the principles of fair play across all tournaments, integrating high-level integrity standards that are maintained 24/7 by our dedicated team of highly experienced experts. Our approach to integrity is supported by several pillars; onboarding, education/ prevention, regulations, monitoring, investigation and prosecution. We also collaborate with law enforcement agencies as well as sporting bodies and federations. Our pillars are based on holistic corporate governance, integrity certification system, multilingual and multi-platform educational awareness programs, our own Integrity Incident Database alongside Integrity Operation Center, and a proprietary whistleblowing platform.
