Timely insights and authentic connections


Please can you give us some background to your career in the industry and involvement with The Gaming Boardroom? I’ve been involved in running events, exhibitions, and conferences for over 30 years, with the last decade spent as managing director of Clarion Gaming, where I had the privilege of leading the world’s top gambling industry events.


After leaving Clarion Gaming, I took time to research and reflect deeply on the industry’s needs, particularly around knowledge-sharing and networking. This reflection led me to create The Gaming Boardroom (TGB). TGB is a digital-first platform specifically tailored to support gambling executives and senior leaders. My personal experience taught me the importance of timely insights and authentic connections, principles that are central to TGB’s ethos.


We sat down with Kate Chambers, from The Gaming Boardroom, to discuss some of the most pressing topics in the iGaming industry, including staff turnover, industry events, responsible gambling, and the role of social media.


The Gaming Boardroom positions itself as a hub for thought leadership in iGaming. What inspired its creation, and how do you envision its role evolving within the industry over the next few years? TGB was inspired by the genuine need for a platform that offers not just information but actionable intelligence and meaningful connections. The pace of change in iGaming requires executives to have immediate access to insights on critical issues, including cybersecurity, regulation, responsible gaming, and market trends. Looking forward, our 2025 strategy will evolve TGB from passive information-sharing into an active problem- solving community.


We’re launching specialised membership tiers aimed at senior executives and operational leaders, focusing directly on their most pressing challenges, detailed trend reports, and exclusive educational content. Ultimately, I see TGB becoming an essential strategic resource and partner for leaders navigating a complex industry.


The iGaming industry seems to suffer from a high staff turnover. In your experience, what are the main reasons behind this trend, and how do you think companies can improve employee retention? High turnover in iGaming maybe stems from rapid industry growth, intense competition for talent, and a demanding work environment. I think that companies often struggle with clearly defining career paths and creating a

supportive culture that prioritises personal and professional development in such an environment. To improve retention, businesses should invest in transparent career progression opportunities, foster a genuine sense of community and belonging, and prioritise mental health and work-life balance. Consistent recognition and meaningful engagement with employees at all levels are critical to building lasting loyalty, but they sometimes get overlooked in the pace of development and work to stay ahead.


How important are industry events and exhibitions to the growth and innovation within iGaming? Can you share a personal experience where attending an event had a significant impact on your business or professional network?


Industry events remain crucial for innovation and growth despite the digital shift. They provide unique opportunities for spontaneous connections and partnerships. A standout experience for me was when an impromptu meeting at ICE this year turned into a strategic partnership that significantly expanded our global reach with TGB and allowed us to partner with a great brand that adds value to both parties. Such interactions underscore the unique value that face-to-face meetings continue to offer, particularly in an industry built on trust and relationships.


With the rise of digital communication, do you think physical events still hold the same value?


Absolutely, but their role has evolved. Physical events complement digital engagement by providing an essential human element, real conversations, serendipitous connections, and trust-building interactions that digital platforms alone can’t replicate. However, the most successful events will be those that integrate digital innovations effectively, creating hybrid experiences that extend reach, accessibility, and value for attendees.


Responsible gambling is an increasingly vital topic. What do you believe is the iGaming industry’s role in ensuring player protection, and is enough being done today? The industry holds primary responsibility for player protection and must proactively set and uphold high standards. While progress has been made, current efforts remain
