os encontramos en plena gimnasia empresarial de juegos y apuestas, yendo de un evento a otro casi cada tres semanas, y siguiendo el SBC Summit de Rio en febrero, fuimos al trascendental evento de SAGSE, que siempre trae innovaciones de por medio, y ahora nos preparamos para volver a Brasil, pero a Sao Paulo, donde se dice que el BiS Sigma Americas va a ser monumental, durante los días 8-10 del presente mes, y de ahí, estaremos volando hacia La Heroica Cartagena de Indias para el GAT Expo. ¡Híjole de millas aéreas! En Buenos Aires pudimos asistir a las magistrales conferencias de SAGSE, donde exponentes de Paraguay, Uruguay y Brasil nos pusieron al tanto de los desarrollos del juego online, que simplemente sigue su auge en la región, con avances en países como Colombia y Perú, también.
Mientras tanto, de Chile nos llegó el informe de la consultora norteamericana Yield Sec, revelando que este mercado alcanzó un volumen de US$3.100 millones en ingresos brutos por juego en 2024, con 5.4 millones de chilenos interactuando con las plataformas de apuestas en el último año. Vale decir que, con un mercado regulado, el Estado podría recaudar entre US$600 y US$800 millones anuales, que son las cifras que superan en 10 veces las proyecciones iniciales del Ministerio de Hacienda, que han estimado ingresos por tan solo US$50 millones.
Como se puede leer líneas abajo, tanto en Argentina como en México prospera el juego presencial también con resultados de licitaciones en uno, y fallo judicial en otro, donde los casinos -bajo el pesado nombre de salas de juegos y sorteos – ahora pueden ofrecer juegos de mesa igual que a la mismísima Las Vegas. Following SBC Summit Rio, in February, we went to Buenos Aires for a fantastic SAGSE event, which always brings innovations to the industry. Now we are getting ready to return to Brazil, for BiS Sigma Americas in Sao Paulo, which they say is going to be monumental, over 8-10 of this month. From there we will be flying to beautiful Cartagena to take in the GAT Expo, in the Caribbean. Some air miles!

In Buenos Aires we were able to attend some master conferences at SAGSE, where speakers from Paraguay, Uruguay and Brazil updated us on the gambling industry developments in their countries, simply continuing its boom in the region, and also with further advances in countries such as Colombia and Peru.
Meanwhile, from Chile we received the report from the North American consulting firm Yield Sec, revealing that this market reached a huge US$3,100 million GGR for 2024, with 5.4 million Chileans interacting with betting platforms in the course of last year. And this without having effective online regulations, because the local legislators are simply turning their backs on such an important sector.
According to the report, the size of the Chilean market indicates that the State could collect US$600-800 million annually, if it had an adequate regulatory framework. In other words, the Study’s figures exceed by 10 times the initial projections of the Chilean Ministry of Finance, which has estimated revenues of only US$50 million yearly.
As you can also read below, both in Argentina and in Mexico, landbased gambling is also thriving with the results of tenders in one, and a federal court ruling in another where casinos – under the silly name of games and raffles rooms – can now offer table games just like Las Vegas itself.
