ouch technology specialist Zytronic will bring two new exciting concepts to this year’s Global Gaming Exhibition. Each will demonstrate how its award- winning projected capacitive technology (PCT and MPCT) can be customised to work seamlessly with


embedded mechanical controls to deliver a truly ‘phygital’ gaming experience. The first concept is a sleek slot machine simulator, featuring


a 55” (140 cm) custom designed, multi-touch ZYBRID sensor in portrait orientation. Mounted on the inner surface of the touchscreen and within the viewable area of the display is ‘floating’ LED lighting. This is the latest demonstration of Zytronic’s proprietary new technology that enables electronic devices integrated onto or behind the touch sensor to be connected and powered invisibly via the touch matrix embedded on the rear of the sensor. “Games driven lighting has an important role in generating


player excitement,” explains Ian Crosby, Vice President of Sales and Marketing at Zytronic, “Our demonstration aims to show game designers how we can help them develop even more immersive experiences, by bringing new effects into the playing surface, complementing the display beneath.” The slot machine unit also features a custom ZYBRID®


button deck packed with features, which showcases how traditional mechanical buttons and multi-touch technology can now be combined with ease. As with the LED lights in the main touch display, the embedded player button appears to float over the 29” (75 cm) slim LCD to provide a reassuring tactile control integrated seamlessly with a dynamic touchscreen interface. In addition, highlighting Zytronic’s


expertise in glass and in-house processing capabilities, the surface of the button deck touch sensor has been machined with features to help guide player’s finger tips, and ensure their eyes remain firmly focused on the exciting gameplay happening on the main screen. “Integrating physical controls within the digital, touch


active area blends tactility with the flexibility of touchscreen technology, opening new design possibilities for game developers and helping slot machine designers to differentiate themselves from the competition,” adds Crosby. “The features we can now machine into the touchscreen surface enable all players to feel the screen and navigate through the game while keeping their eyes on the screen, which will capture and hold their attention thereby extending game time.” Visitors to the Zytronic stand can also try their hand at a fun, digital dice rolling game running on a uniquely designed circular multi-touch table demonstration. Zytronic will also introduce its newest recruit, Brandon Feder. Based in Seattle, he brings to the company over 12 years of sales management experience from the electronics industry and will work alongside Scott Durden and report to Bob Spencer, Director of North American Sales.
