I’m a little sceptical of events (in case you hadn’t picked up on that already). I always wonder if they are simply great money- making exercises for the event organisers, leaving companies who can’t really afford the time or expense ‘trapped’ in the vicious circle of having to attend for fear of ‘losing face’ or ‘missing out’ if they don’t.

Not that I’m complaining; on this occasion the show in question happens to be just down the road from me and is a lovely way of seeing what the industry is up to while still in my pyjamas. If you’re coming – excellent, I’ll see you there. And if you’re not, don’t worry, you can just email out a press release next week and you’ll get much the same coverage.

Oh, and in case you’re wondering, I went – as always – for a bagel. Yum.
