RUBY TECHNOLOGY

Ruby Technology director Mutlu Benmutlu talks to Ricki Chavez-Munoz about casino operators’ leading software.

I

t’s always good to see new casino management software companies expanding their innovative solutions on the market for casino operations, writes Ricki Chavez-Munoz, International Editor

and former casino operator, and the first question for Mutlu Benmutlu, Ruby Technology Director, has to be, how has casino operations been used best on your product Casino Assist? Mutlu Benmutlu: Although Ruby

Technology is new to the really big international market, the products have been refined for a number of years. The Ruby Technology systems – Casino Assist Management System and the Ridotto Electronic Gaming Management System – have existed in ever improving versions and have been track-tested and operated in a number of casinos in various countries. The first versions have been running in casinos (with updated versions) for quite a while. The Ruby Technology software was developed by our software developers in ongoing cooperation with casino management teams who know and understand player needs as well as casino management. Our customers have always given us feedback and we work hand-in-hand with them to improve our product. Their operations people with our developers. And it is really hands-on as our developers are right on the casino floors and in the cash desks with the operators seeing where changes and improvements can be made. This is not just “remote control from head office” development. With us, the operators know that they can talk with the developers at any time for their needs. As a corporate outline on us, Ruby Technology

has its head office in Bulgaria and technical office in Northern Cyprus and we are a software development company that manufactures casino management software for casinos, supports casino hardware and IT services, and manufactures software technologies.

standards. I don’t like to sound overconfident as criminal elements will always come up with new ideas to get through systems, but we believe that in so far as security is concerned, our product is at the top of the market. Again, this is where the hands-on contact with our customers is of huge importance.

RCM: Most gaming jurisdictions require laboratory certification from suppliers. Which markets is Ruby Technology targeting, and is certification available for such markets?

Ricki Chavez-Munoz: As technology is now embedded online and gaming industry products are exposed to the online criminal element, how does Ruby Technology tackle such sensitive security matter and what is the protection offered in its products?

Mutlu Benmutlu: At a time where online criminals are coming up all the time and are developing and refining numerous ways in how to cheat the casinos for winnings – and the players – or for data access, we are highly committed in developing our system security against any possible way of unauthorised access. Our casino management software’s sensitive data and the network traffic are encrypted and the network itself is protected against any attempt at unauthorised entry into the system. We run our software in a private local network which is not exposed to the global internet. Our software code security is checked by security specialists and complies with GLI

MB: When Ruby Technology first put its products on the market, it concentrated on jurisdictions that were not requiring certification for the product. The problem was until recently that the system had not been certified, which has limited its market to a great extent. Now the owners of Ruby Technology have decided to go ahead and take their system out to the whole gaming world, and we applied for GLI certification. Maybe we were a little bit nervous about this as a “start-up development” company in the global market, and maybe we should have gone for certification earlier. That said, our software is now GLI certified and Ruby Technology is targeting the worldwide market. Our first market some years ago was the

Northern Cyprus market. If you do not know this market, suffice to say that it is hugely competitive with a large number of world standard casinos operating the latest in casino equipment and software products. It is not for nothing that this is known as the “Las Vegas of the Mediterranean”. The first casino took the Ruby Technology system some 10 years ago and is still running this with the ongoing updates. The Northern Cyprus market was a big challenge for us to start, yet it helped us to develop the various software features to increase the business in such a competitive environment. The next step was to expand outside Northern Cyprus into Eastern Europe.
