Million-dollar deal agreed for Lexmark International
A
deal worth $1.5 million has been agreed between Xerox and the owners of Lexmark International over its acquisition as the printing company looks to bolster its portfolio.
Lexmark is a provider of imaging solutions and technologies whose current ownership is split between three businesses – Ninestar Corporation, PAG Asia Capital, and Shanghai Shouda Investment Centre.
Combining its solutions with Xerox’s ConnectKey technology and advanced print and digital services, it is hoped the
buyout will create a greater portfolio that builds on Xerox’s commitment to increasing value for clients and partners. The transaction will also strengthen Xerox’s ability to serve clients in the large, growing A4 colour market and diversify its distribution and geographic presence, including the APAC region. The new organisation will serve more than 200,000 clients in 170 countries with 125 manufacturing and distribution facilities in 16 countries.
Steve Bandrowczak, CEO at Xerox, said: “Our acquisition of Lexmark will bring together two industry-leading companies
with shared values, complementary strengths, and a deep commitment to advancing the print industry to create one stronger organisation.
“By combining our capabilities, we will be better positioned to drive long-term profitable growth and serve our clients, furthering our reinvention.”
Allen Waugerman, Lexmark president and CEO, said: “Lexmark has a proud history of serving our customers with world-class technology, solutions and services, and we are excited to join Xerox and expand our reach with shared talent and a stronger portfolio of offerings.”
A L Two Sides announces new Love Paper Week initiative
new initiative to promote the sustainability of paper and packaging products has been announced for the new year. Love Paper Week, which will be held from February 3 to 7, is a new movement organised by Two Sides, a not-for-profit organisation. It is an addition to the global Love Paper campaign, promoting the attractiveness and sustainability of print, paper, and paper packaging. Josh Birch, campaign manager for Two Sides UK, said: “We encourage all
printers, paper merchants, packaging manufacturers and all those who operate within the sector to support Love Paper Week and use the materials available to inform their clients, customers and consumers more widely, why paper is such a sustainable, effective and attractive medium.
“While the first year will have modest activity, the goal is to grow it annually to be a truly recognised week amongst the industry, businesses and consumers alike.
“We want to mobilise everyone in the
world of paper, from direct mail and print publishers, to sack paper and corrugated card, to celebrate Love Paper Week.” There are many misconceptions relating to paper, print and paper packaging. According to the Two Sides Trend Tracker Survey, 2023, 37% of European consumers believe paper and paper packagings are bad for the environment. It also highlighted only 18% believe the paper recycling rate exceeds 60% when the figure actually reaches 79%, the highest of any material in Europe, a figure shown in Cepi’s Key Statistics.
