Focus on Rigid & Flexible Substrates Digidelta
Evolving to meet customer expectations
As print applications continue to diversify across retail, interiors, events and industrial markets, the choice of substrate has become just as important as the print technology used to create the piece. From rigid boards for signage and displays to flexible materials for banners, wraps and soft signage, today’s substrate market offers more versatility than ever before, while growing demand for sustainability and performance is also reshaping customer expectations. Digidelta has been evolving its flexible, self-adhesive substrate portfolio to meet or exceed the changing demands of the wider market. One example of this ongoing commitment to innovation is BIOND, its range of bio-based printable films. Designed with an environmental focus, BIOND is the result of many years of dedicated research and development efforts.
All products in the BIOND portfolio have been crafted from bio-based materials – but, crucially, behave and perform in the same way as traditional PVC vinyl. This means users do not have to compromise on quality or pay inflated costs to offer customers a more sustainable service across all manner of markets.

more water compared to traditional textiles and achieves a 77% overall reduction in the planet’s resources compared to traditional textile materials. The Kavalan portfolio also features Butterfly, a blockout material suitable for consistent colour reproduction on both sides. The newest product in this range, Butterfly WindPro, is ideal for outdoor applications. Spiderweb is a mesh material combining PVC-like strength with lightweight efficiency, and Gecko is a wall covering which is compatible with both latex and UV inks and offers a self-adhesive backing option for select sizes, resulting in easy application for interior and event applications. Kavalan’s new Gecko Stroma floor mat product is well suited
for short-term events. In addition to its range of PVC-free banner materials, the Kavalan range also includes Snail welding tape and Dragonfly keder, a lightweight PVC-free keder for securing and protecting large-format banners. With interest in sustainable materials increasing rapidly,
Kavalan offers a way for businesses to quantify these using its proprietary Eco Calculator. This tool allows printers and brands to understand and illustrate their reduced impact in terms of savings in carbon, water, and pollutants, turning better material choices into real data.

The environmental qualities of BIOND were also recognised on a global scale after several products secured independent ‘OK biobased’ certification from TÜV Austria. BIOND Clear Glossy, BIOND Clear Matte, BIOND Clear Matte Embossed and BIOND White Glossy/Matte all secured top ratings. Aside from BIOND, Digidelta offers DECAL, a brand that has been core to its substrates range since 2009. One of the most important developments with this collection is that bubble-free (DECAL Bubble-Free) and dot matrix (DECAL Dot Matrix) products are offered as standard, rather than as premium or upgraded solutions. By continuing to invest in innovation, sustainability and ease of application, Digidelta is helping print providers meet changing market demands without compromising on quality or performance.
