Astley welcomes Harlow Green pupils for sign making experience

tudents of Harlow Green Primary School were treated to an exclusive behind-the-scenes tour of Gateshead sign maker Astley as part of a competition prize. The visit followed the school’s second collaborative design competition, which challenged pupils to create graphics for nine themed play zones, including the Reading Gazebo, Construction Zone and Traditional Sports area. Winning entries, selected by Astley’s
Board, will now be professionally manufactured and installed around the school.
During the visit, students explored Astley’s production facility, took part in

interactive activities and learned about careers within the sign industry. Astley managing director, James Mavi
said: “It was another incredibly difficult decision for the Board, as we received so many fantastic entries from talented students across all year groups. “Our team thoroughly enjoyed
reviewing the designs and welcoming the students to our facility, giving them an insight into what we do and the range of careers available within our industry.” Assistant head, Leighanne Softley, said:
“We are delighted that the competition winners had such a fantastic visit to Astley – the children have not stopped talking about it since.”
