Focus on Sustainable Products Multitechnic A sustainable mindset
Multitechnic believes that sustainability is not just about products, it is about the way you work. Best known for its etched brass and stainless steel signage, the company also makes industrial labels, and the first step to making these products sustainable is to engineer them for as long a life as possible. Replacement means waste and remanufacture, so simple things such as only using 316 grade stainless steel ensures products have as long a life as possible. Multitechnic does not etch aluminium. It recycles as much of its manufacturing waste as possible, but acids contaminated with aluminium cannot be recycled. The aluminium itself however is an environmentally responsible product, one of the most recycled materials on the planet. Adding aluminium to this product range would fit perfectly, so when digital anoprinting into aluminium was developed 15 years ago, Multitechnic was the first major UK sign manufacturer to adopt this new technology. One of the key selling points was the long life of anoprinted aluminium signs and labels in extreme environments such as marine locations, and where signs or labels experience heavy physical wear, such as museum displays, or where less robust interior wayfinding signage would be vandalised. Multitechnic have had this sustainable mindset for half a
century. When its current building was designed in the 1970s, the drainage was engineered to neutralise all waste water before it leaves the site. The roof was specially imported from Sweden because of its sustainable wood construction and excellent insulation. That roof is still going strong, and now supports an array of solar panels, a £50,000 investment to make Multitechnic self-sufficient in electricity. The entire production area is now lit with energy-efficient LED lighting. Its commitment to sustainability even extends to a four-day production week, reducing energy consumption and travel. Sustainable products and a sustainable attitude to how they

Soyang Europe
The importance of updating your sustainable offering
Soyang Europe has a long-term commitment to An example of Soyang’s RCY collection
When it comes to wide-format print, sustainability has transitioned from a stand-out buzzword to a business requirement for all those active within the sector. Brands, retailers, public sector clients and other customers now expect signage and display graphics to reflect their own environmental commitments, not just in the messaging shown on the application, but in the materials themselves. Failure to adapt to these changing demands and alter your
own strategy puts you as serious risk of being left behind by competitors that are better suited to supporting customers with sustainable print services. To put it simply, consider switching up your offering or prepare to bid farewell to profitable work.

sustainability and supporting its customers with solutions, but also with a firm belief that environmentally responsible materials must still deliver on the shop floor. That is why its sustainable range is engineered to run seamlessly across a variety of print technologies – from dye sublimation and UV to latex and solvent – and to withstand the same demanding commercial environments as traditional PVC media. To offer an example of Soyang’s solutions, the RCY collection is a range of high-quality printable textiles. Made from recycled PET yarns, these have been designed to meet the growing demand for responsible materials, without compromising on quality. The RCY family includes four primary products: ST-117RCY
Vista Display, ST-110 RCY Flag Superb, ST-216 RCY Nightstar and ST-601 RCY Starlight. All these textiles combine impressive print vibrancy with the peace of mind that the material is made from recycled resources, meaning both you and your clients are doing your bit for the planet. From flags, backlit displays and tension frames to banners, wall coverings and event graphics, our sustainable range covers virtually every print application, making it easier for sign makers to offer greener options to their customers without compromise.
