DRPG installs new HP Latex FS50W to support long-term sustainable goals

RPG has invested in a new HP Latex FS50W super-wide printer to strengthen its
long-term sustainability strategy, opening up a wider range of options to its diversified customer base. The printer, from Papergraphics, can handle media up to 3.2m wide and print in colour at speeds of up to 89m sq/hr, which was what DRPG was after seeking to replace its previous 3.2m printer. It also runs using HP Latex Inks, which are water-based, have significantly less impact on the planet than other inks and the cartridges can be recycled after
use, perfectly fitted with DRPG’s own commitment to the environment. Lee Whitehouse, head of print at DRPG, said: “The FS50W ticked a lot of boxes for us, especially when it comes to quality. The colour gamut range was so much better than our previous printer. It also enabled us to offer a broad range of potential applications including thin films, vinyl, and backlit textiles. “Scalability, sustainability and
environmental impact are also key focuses with this printer. The machines offer water-based odourless prints with no hazardous air pollutants, designed
to meet modern environmental certifications, which are very important to us here at DRPG.”

Whiteghyll revs up agility and productivity with Agfa investment

hiteghyll have invested in the 3.2m high-performance, hybrid inkjet press wide-format Agfa
Anapurna Ciervo H3200 due to their growing customer base and rising demand. As a hybrid wide-format platform, it handles both rigid board and
roll-fed materials with ease, running UV LED-curable inks with a six-colour plus white ink set. Kevin Green, print and graphics manager at Whiteghyll, said: “There’s been a real push from our customers for sustainability-focused substrates like PALBOARD and eco-vinyls too. “Newer materials can be
challenging to work with, and our older kit wasn’t achieving what we wanted it to. We needed some new technology in the business.” Since the installation, Whiteghyll estimates that it now completes two to three times more jobs per day compared its previous press setup, especially with new Agfa Asanti RIP and
software installed into its production studio for a flawless link between design, print and finishing.
Emma Plant, sales manager (North) at
Agfa, concluded: “Whiteghyll is exactly the kind of partner we love to work with; technically sharp, creatively ambitious, and committed to print excellence. “They had a very clear set of
challenges to meet, and the Anapurna Ciervo H3200 was the ideal fit. Seeing how quickly they’ve scaled up their output across a wide array of substrates, while improving efficiency and material use, has been a great success story. We’re proud to support them as they continue growing.”
